so how was the mud???

Yes we did today and Thursday and again tomoz.
Mud was pretty bad round trade stands and some of the course but if you were prepared it was fine. Saw a few people fall over in it. Felt very sorry for the small dogs, they were covered in mud and looked totally fed up. It was a nightmare getting out glad w left when we did took us an hour to get to A1 and the car park was still full !!!

Liquid mud! seen many interesting variety's of mud today, solid mud with liquid on top, the plowed furrow effect, squelchy mud, most of the stock on display in the trade stands was covered in mud. Basically a lot of mud!
Good day though

I was there......at the Cottesmore Leap.....all day.....it was wet, and windy......

Thank goodness we had no excitement this year, though a few 'heart in the mouth' moments!

I've been today. Yep mud round the tradestands was bad - so bad we just gave up with the shopping! However it wasnt too bad around the course and the car parks were remarkably mud free apart from the main entry and exit points. As it was slightly quieter than usual on the course we were able to get much closer to the fences straight away so had a really good day in all.

we did,but left dogs at home which i was pleased about.mud, mud glorious mud.peoples cars pushed in and out, area round trade stands awful but course ground looked like it held up well.much busier this afternoon but dont think there were as many people as usual.luckily we took our old fourtrack and sailed out.literally but someone broke their clutch after getting stuck and loads of cars had to be pushed out.glad i went though

Ditto - did we do the right thing?

I went, was great fun. Loved the mud! Never seen so many types! lol. Although I did see one of the fallers at the dreaded mushrooms (not sure who it was but horse rolled on top of her and seemed to be there forever) which was not so good. Didn't get a photo tho as had camera focused on 2nd element....

My little Polo freestyled out of the car park...we made it out with no assistance but we were skidding the whole time. Was a bit peeved with all the queue jumping though.

Much fun was had. My boots are a sight to behold. Some people were in the strangest outfits though. Saw one lady in a long floaty skirt and wellies...surely if you're wearing wellies because of the mud you'd not wear a long skirt?!

Interesting results though by the end of the day. Think there are only 3 of the top ten after dressage left in the competition.

Very muddy out there! Had a great time, though, and will go back tomorrow.

oh I am jealous of you all - i've never been to Burghley. Done every badminton since '97, but never ventured north.

on the otherhand, re. mud,I have just got back from bestival (big music festival on the isle of white) the mud was so terrible that it was reaching the top of my wellies - and yes, we were CAMPING in it - escaped before I neared drowning

I saw an old man in white trousers who then fell over.... I know I shouldn't of but i did laugh a little bit... lol

With the q jumping thing, my impression of the east of england wasn't great, came across many q jumpers and a startling about of people who walked into me and didn't say a thing! One of whom took my leg out and I had to grab hold of mum to stay on my feet and another who slammed her pointy bag into my leg! Very rude people.

I couldn't work out how I ended up with mud on my thighs, until I realised it was being splashed about just by people walking through it!

Was fine though in comfy boots and long wax. Weather was kind to us; didn't rain until last horse, and the course wasn't too bad to walk around. The shops however...

I also got very irate with people walking the wrong way across the bridge despite the fact it was sign-posted at both ends which side to walk on. But I mainly wished people would be more careful with their dogs - the number of times they nearly wrapped the leads round your legs because they passed one side and the dog went the other.

Then I was ranting in the car park...I'm turning into my dad.

i went WITH A PRAM and it was fine- yeah there was mud but so what -not as tho i never see it in my field!!!! had a great day as did the kids - bunged them in the creche whilst we shopped and had a pimms or two then kept to few bits round jumps where mud wasnt so bad. dressed them properly in plastic suits and it was fine. Was a real laugh with fellow mum trying to push prams laden with shopping up the hill ( think was because of everything we bought more than the mud!)

we were there for the whole week and it wasnt nearly as bad as i expected, although I was very glad I had my mountain horse boots!
Parked in the members car park and had no problems at all.
Think it helped we did our shopping on the Thus when it was nice and dry
