12.2hh 20 yr old, bad tendon on front leg and totally blind in one eye? But other wise fit and healthy.

I DO, sounds mad but out off all the ponies I have looked at for my daughter, none have been suitable temp wise. This mare was a total saint to ride and couldn't off asked better in traffic, canter though fields etc.
Really looked after Sarah so she will be coming to her new home nxt week end. Home for the rest off her days but I still wonder how people can kick out their old friends.

Sounds like she's landed on her feet bless her. Sometimes you just need a schoolmaster don't you? I hope they're very happy together :)

Well done for taking on a veteran. Age is irrelevant when the safety of your child is involved. I hope you have a lot of happy years together.

I'm with you. If I had a young child to buy a pony for then this one would probably tick all the boxes and if you are prepared and able for her to remain with you until the end of her life then that is great. I hope she and your daughter have a lot of fun together. My daughter was ODEing on a 12hh 26 year old not too long ago!

:D just to say how lovely to see that there is a good home for life for this little girl, we will need piccies please!!!!!! hope your daughter enjoys her, sounds like she will be perfect...

I have a wonderful old girl too. :) I was given her by a friend when the mare was 19 years old. She's an ex-racer and rears so she is retired but she is very sweet and I needed a gentle companion for my then yearling. It worked out perfectly.

We were given a 16 year old for myself and my daughter. Owner said . you will get a few years out of her. We had her 20 years.

I had a conversation with someone about age of horses and we came to the conclusion that sometimes it doesnt matter. Their old boy lived to 37 and he was being ridden hacking (after winning money years before showjumping) up until age 33! He spent his last few years as a fantastic companion to my old boy.

But as you say where a child is involved especially if its well behaved its worth its weight in gold.

A lucky pony.

yes she was 36. We knew her exact age because she was born on same day as previous owners daughter. Got her when my daughter was 11 and then her daughter rode her right up until she died. She only had 2 owners and only lived in 2 places. we still miss her. God bless Zena

Dont walk away from the oldies - as I keep telling my daughter lol - seriously they know thier job and yep she as one eye but if she looked after your daughter what more can you want to many people by unsuitable animals whereas your daughter will have fun her confidence will grow and your special pony has a home for life thats so made me feel good inside thank you for sharing with us :) xxxx

it shocks me that someone would put this pony up for sale as it could so easily end up somewhere horrible but i am really glad she has landed on her feet with you! well done on you! :D

Ours was 20 when we got her...and we had eight wonderful years with her before she 'left' us. One in a million she was and not really in the best of health, now I think on. We must have made life worth living again for her.
