A man from Parcel Farce just knocked on the office door to take a signature for a big box. Fine, signed for it, left the box on the step and went in. Five minutes later I get another knock on the door... it's him again.

He says that he is having trouble getting out down the track. He says that he went and asked our neighbour if he could turn around on her land, she has a yard with a big gravel parking area, but she flatly refused him. I did think this was a bit mean, lol, but oh well. I pointed to a big gap on our drive and told him he was more than welcome to pull in there... he looked at it, looked back at me, agreed and walked back to his van again.

Now, our drive is quite big. We do have a lot of cars (there are five drivers in the house and various work vans) and when they're all here it's easy to see that people might have trouble manouvering in and out. But today there is just my van and my OH's car. There are two entrances, so plenty of room... The track we live down is narrow, so no room to turn round on, but we're more than happy for people to use our drive to turn around in, and there's also a little grassy area at the end of the track which you can just about manage a three point turn in, if you're clever But baring in mind I drive a van, I don't have a car so have to drive it everywhere, and I'm sure there are plenty of female horsebox drivers on here who can relate to this... I don't have any trouble getting in and out.

So I watch from the window as the man makes a complete hash of trying to reverse his van into the huge great space on our drive... ok it's not that huge, but it was plenty big enough! In the end I go back to the door. He pops his head out the window and says 'Nope, it's no good, I'm going to have to back out'... to which I reply that it'd be a great idea if he has a death wish! The road at the end of our track is on a blind bend and is quite a fast road... it's dangerous enough going forewards!! So I suggest that perhaps, seeing as I know the driveway well

I had a go, and told him I drive the van sitting on the drive... so he agreed with a sort of 'as if you can do any better' snigger and says he'll watch me in. Two minutes later, I've excuted a perfect (if I do say so myself

) neat little 3 point turn, bang bang bang, and the van is now facing the right way!

The man was clearly very embaressed and muttered something about never having had to deliver to somewhere down such a small lane before and that I must just be used to doing it...

Ha ha ha!!!!!

Man at our local tack shop says women are better drivers. When women hire the horse trailer they reverse it back into the space it came from. Bish, bash, bosh job done. Most men (he says) drive in as far as they can, swing round and unhitch trailer and push trailer into the space manually.

Personally I don't think men have a real concept of size.

haha yep so very true SharonH
My oh can't park a car too well either. Most of the time we go shopping he will stop by the parking space and I have to park it for him lol

haha, I'm giggling to myself now!

My OH is HGV qualified (rigid and drag) and tracked vehicle qualified (tanks). So why, why, why?? does he have problems doing a 3 point turn in his Ford Focus Estate? Honestly, he can't even park it in a tight drive-in parking space in a car park. He makes me get out and watch him in. I thought it might have been just that car, maybe the visibility isn't great. But no, he's just as bad in my Corsa *snigger*

haha excellent.
a former neighbour when i lived in Northants used to be incapable of backing his volvo in a straight line down the drive if he met me in the horsebox. he didn't seem to realise that it would go in a straight line if he left it alone, he'd swing it from side to side as if backing a trailer, and then have to go forward because he nearly hit the fence (this was on a perfectly straight piece of road, not that narrow) or expect me to move my 7.5 tonne lorry out of his way on to the verge (yeah, right.) unbelievable lack of spacial awareness.

dont you just love it when something like that happens! I like it when Im towing the trailer and have to turn it around in a really tight space when there are men about. They just look at me as though "this is gonna be good" as I have spent more time with a trailer attached than not, Im pretty competant. I love the look on their faces! even better when they cant turn a trailer and I offer to help!

too true! Ask them to show you with their fingers what an inch is-guarantee it will be around 3 inches they show you!

Well done OP!!!
