Sorry for our lack of updates recently but we have been awfully boring and nothing worth updating about. Andy has been very good lately has been a saint out hacking, I'm so proud with how far he has come.

Nearly a year since Koko as well so he has made a welcomed return to my signature.

Sadly I still haven't got any further to getting the poor horses off the pasture which killed K so any ideas to get horses moved ASAP would be very much appreciated.

seriously, who on earth said that TBs can't jump?! back in the '60s Pat Smythe took a 'chaser to International wins (Prince Hal), and there have been oodles of others. Okay, some of them have less-than-exemplary style at first, but they can definitely jump.
Great pic btw.

who said TBs cant jump? :p mine can...he just wont :o:p lol over showjumps anyway but he has huge scope across country. picci looks fab :) least you know you have the scope to go bigger :)

Two points...

1) Literally no one seriously? Ever? Because when you watch a load of TBs rocket round the steeplechase fences, the first thing you say is "Feck me they're useless jumpers!".

2) Andy is of TB type. At 148cm, he's as much of a TB as any other pony trials/ pony racing pony. He'll have a lot in him for sure, but he's a different kettle of fish. Same way he's not really an ex-racer because it was pony racing and he did all his other PC activities too (90% convinced that Al has jumped off against him SJ in her misspent youth- he's not got a very common name at all!).

But he looks amazing and you've done a fabby job at getting him back to his peak so a massive well done! And a well done on your recent B test and A levels- all in all a good summer, eh!?

According to a lot of people I know TBs can't show jump as they just crash through the fences. :p

Fair point about him not being a normal type of TB but he really does have the same confo/ temperament just in a smaller frame. :)

Thanks I'm very chuffed with the piccy (bare in mind that was a 1m class.) :p

To be fair, Reg got 54 SJ penalties at his BE début last weekend. If you're going to get a cricket score, might as well do it properly! (35 time, 2 massive circles and 4 down... 2 of the 4 down were due to the reason for the circles so it was bad but explicably so!).

How's the XC coming on now? Got anywhere with the ditch thing, because Reg has suddenly just gone "Oh, and now ditches are cool!". It's almost worrying especially considering 3 months ago ditches had to be ridden at like a thing possessed...

He doesn't do overjumping unless he really fancies livening it up a bit, but he's pretty lush over jumps now :D

Totally agree with you there if your going to get faults do it in style. :)

We haven't really had a chance to get out and do ditches (apart from the ones we meet out hacking which he is flying) so in spring we're going to start proper training over them in the hope I can actually get him eventing in the summer.

Great photo, but really, subject title? Think 100% of the eventing world would disagree with that - but hey - what the hell do the likes of Mary King, Blyth Tait, Mark Todd and co know about jumping.

Oh and of course the Grand National has no serious jumps in it either ....

Here in New Zealand the majority of our competition horses are TB's - we get them off the track and do everything with them.

NZ TB 'Palais Glyde' one of my school horses

NZ TB 'Donaghue' owned by me sold and brought to UK by Virginia Losel - 2*eventer - this fence is an 'Open PC fence'

Summed it up in one :)

Considering that a heck of a lot of the top event horses are TBs (I think four of the first six placed at Burleigh were ex racehorses) and there have been so many Grade A show jumpers that were TBs.
I have never heard anyone state that TBs couldn't jump. Whoever did say it is an ignoramous.

hehehe - feel free to steal him - he is a pain in the arse in all other respects :P he does that when you are on him as well - he really is too good for me and needs a 'jumper' as an owner not me whos bottle gives out just as he gets going :)

Awe he's fab!! He is one of the horses on here I would love to have a play with he makes them fences look so easy and he always looks happy in his work.

Looking good!

Mt TB unfortunately does prefer 'the bulldozer technique' over a fence I'm afraid to say though....

Lovely XC or over a worker course....but show jumps? Eh...no. Lol. If there was an Olympic sport for trashing a course....we'd win hands down, eyes open! :p

DH if you're ever down south give me a PM and your more than welcome to come and have a play with him. :)

Ah thanks not really sure I could ride him!! I drove past gloucster and cheltnham (I cant spell either :o) on my way back from devon the other week and I thought of you and andy. I will be returning to devon as close friends live there so will give you a PM. If your ever in cambs (holidays) or essex (term time) way let me know and your more than welcome to come play on the yellow one but I dont think he would be very interesting compared to andy :o:).

ETA thanks for reminding me must post a little update of my fun in devon have some photos to rival n-m and toby :D
