Following on from last nights success with horrid Herbie i took him out again tonight. But minus my wonderful OH. Well we had a descussion as to weather we where going to go down the road to begin with but i got him going. We continued up to the next village without any trouble.
He walked streight passed the bridleway we come out of to come home. (Normaly a napping hotspot) but a little way into the village he did have a nap. He just stopped dead :( after a small discussion he walked on, I didn't have to get off :D :D :D :D :D
He walked passed several fields with horses in and didn't bat an eyelind.
We did have a spook at a pile of rubbish. Normaly he spins round and tries to run away but tonight he just stopped and took a step backwards. I reassured him it was ok then asked him to walk on and he did :) I think he's starting to trust me at last :D.
We carried on up to the downs and had a nice trot.
Some mean farmer has put sheep to graze on the downs and they are fenced in right across the track we ride on to get home. I thought Herbie may have a big tantrum as we had to take another track that heads in the wrong direction. But he had a small nap then went the way i wanted him to. We rejoind the normal path further up and continued home without a fuss.
I'm so proud of Herbie the second hack where i havn't needed to get off.
It must be time for a name change i can't call him Horrid anymore. Any suggestions as to what i can call him now?
Thanks for reading i'm so so happy tonight. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I'm so happy for you :D Although there aren't many complimentary words (that I can immediately think of) beginning with 'H' apart from the one above! Hooray for Herbie though :D

Well done! Keep it going, get that boy out and about seeing all sorts of bogey monsters and remain confident, bold riders make bold horses:D

Hey that's great, well done! I just had a fantastic solitary nap-free hack with my usually nappy, spinny boy, he went past a lady hosing her garden and a crashed plane in a field (!). I am so happy, feel like we're FINALLY getting somewhere!
Horrid Herbie could be Herbilicious?

Thats brilliant news Laura so glad he is getting better i think your right he does seem to starting to trust you. Seems like it is onwards and upwards for the both of you.

PS. How is lucy?

Thanks everyone. Keep the names coming in. :D

Noblesteed. Thats great news about your horse to. It's such a good feeling when they start coming right isn't it. I can't believe how far Herbie has come when so many people just told me to send him to the sales because he was to bad to fix. Well they need to look at him now. :D :D :D
I hope your horse continues to behave and we both have many many nap-free enjoyable hacks.

Thanks ginger_nut. I'm so proud of him i can't stop smiling. Lucy is well thanks her abcess is all better and i have started riding her again. I'm hoping to do a small sponsourd ride on her in June. I can't wait to get her out again (if she can cope with the work ofcourse)
My vet said give it a go and see how she copes they are so amazed she is still here and doing so well. Hopefully my luck is changing for the better now. Fingers crossed :p :D :D :D

Brilliant news on Lucy! So pleased for you.
As for Herbie - sounds like he will be a dude too, well done on all your hard work. Can't call him Horrid now, thats for sure.
Try ''Horray Herbie''!!

Thankyou Ruthnmeg. I'm pleased with how Lucy is doing and i think she's happy to be ridden again. She was getting very bord bless her. I knew Herbie had it in him to be good. Someone just had to give him a chance. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us. Hopefully he will start enjoying life now and see that riding is fun :)

Sadly no pics toffee44 as i'm normaly on my own and when my OH came out it was a last minuet thing so no camera. :( :( I will try to get someone to take some soon as he looks like a different pony now. He has his ears pricked most of the time instead of flat back :D.
