Think about the poor cat you just yanked it's tail for no reason.
[/ QUOTE ]
It wasn't for no reason - it was to gain it's trust, respect and obviously to make it go backwards, only one of them worked though - she has plenty of respect for the cat now
I think you may all be able to cash in on an unexplored area here, quick write a quick book, make a tv programme, everyone with unwilling (sorry I mean willing) cats and dogs get together and go for Parelli volume 2!!!

I do beg your pardon but i missed your post.I am far from scared to stand up in what i believe.Tail pulling is part of the seven games. It is a trust test betwwen you and your horse.A horse must trust you if you are asking him to back up just by gently pulling its tail.If a horse did not trust you it will kick you simple.

If someone pulled my hair I'd smack them in the mouth no matter how much I trusted them

Ah, now I get it. All these years I've muttered about dodgy dealers at sales pulling horses tails being cruel....how wrong I've been, they clearly all practice Parelli!

You pick it up and swing around above your head then let go i think you'll find your cat will go backwards.

Now here is the basic flaw in the way you are practicing Petrelli (just registered the trade mark). If you swing a cat around by its tail and let go it will in fact go FORWARDS fast and stop just as quickly when it hits a wall.
To make the cat go backwards you will need to swing it around by its whiskers (you have played the touchy feely whisker game haven't you). using the whiskers will ensure the cat does go backwards when pressure is released.
Please note i have some special whisker gloves for sale at a very reasonable price of just £199.99.

QR why would this be a wind up.If you watch the masters on horse and country you would see that tail pulling is a common thing to those who practise Parelli,as is making your horse move the way you want to by waving the carrot stick into the line of vison or gently tapping their faces with the stick.Pure genius.

I don't see how waving a carrot stick in front of your horse is mimicking natural horse behaviour? Horses in the wild don't wave sticks at each other
And before the parelli lot jump on me for being facaetious, I do a bit of IH with my horse and had a Kelly Marks recommended associate out to him last year so I'm familiar with that sort of thing. I just don't get parelli.
ETA - ignore me, I have now read the rest of the thread
Dispite the do not try this on your cat warnings I am afraid that I have tried the tail pulling excersise on the dog...... he fell over should this happen or is it more that he has 3 legs. I also did try and make the necklace out of my popcorn but the otyher dog ate it..... is this normal. I have also tried the carrot stick thing, but that was eaten too.....
Help what am I doing wrong
Evening all i have had a wonderfull day i have been Parelli-ing with my horses i have been tail pulling and cat swinging I have even tried tail pulling on my Cockateil but it sadly did not go to plan as he now has no tail feathers. So i think Petrelli will be limited to cats and dogs only as i dont have a gerbil or rabbit to try out the wonderfull world of Parelli..I have played the seven games and even came up with a couple more games.I have come up with tail pulling with a differance. It is such hard work tail pulling so i have tried out tying my horses tail to the back of my landrover and driving down the road all was going well untill the tail came undone and i have now lost my horse. If you see a horse wandering around with a short tail as two feet of it is still attatched to my car please could you let me know.Im not too worried as it will grow back in a year ot two and i still have another horse to tail pull with.So all in all a fabulous day really.I'm now going to try the carrot stick on my dog as the horses wont come near me anymore.
What with all my success at Parelli last night with my horses I was very keen to give Petrelli a go. Sadly, I have come across a problem with Petrelli, I tried it with our chickens (my thinking was we have 8 so I should at least be able to get one of the b****rs to respect me) ..... they have no tails so to speak of which was a bit of a stumbling block, and also feathers come out rather too easily :s I have however managed to make a nice new cushion with the feather as a filling ( I hear Rema you sit on a cushion making beads which sounds a lovely idea).
I believe I may be doing something wrong, although I am pleased to note that Rema it appears you may live in my neck of the woods so was wondering whether you were considering some clinics? Or private calls? I am obviously willing to pay the going rate - which I should imagine would be around £400??
I have heard this tail pulling works really well on Tigers (just big cats afer all). Can anyone going to the zoo soon, let me know how you get on, please?
