Who's got a Sports Cob? :-)

I have one!

H is a Welsh D so is fairly hairy (although I like to minimise hair via pulling mane and trimming legs!) Don't worry I don't show!

He goes fast when galloping, he is also good at jumping when he's not pretending its scary. I have jumped 3'6" on him and think he could prob go higher and was jumping rather wide jump in my lesson the other day although not that high.

He is on a mission when hacking with mates and is strong. Did sponsored ride the other day and struggled to hold him think he thought he was hunting. Would like to take him but not brave enough as he tends to stop at new jumps.

He can also do a rather sharp 180 degree turn when hacking alone. Not intentional!

He also does a rather nice high knee Welsh D trot. Although this is usually when he's being a knobber when hacking alone or as he p's off across the field when trying to catch him!

Mememe, all 14.3hh of him!

He's pretty fun!

I have the real thing - a coloured cob mare as dam and Catherston Dougal (WB) as the sire.

Zebedee is 16hh Tobiano and he is the perfect all rounder, SJ to Discovery (he lives on a SJ yard!) and is the perfect 'manny' to my youngsters - he takes them all out hacking after breaking to teach them good manners and as if that is not enough he has to take him mum out hacking occasionally and look after her as she is not so young that she wants to ride the young show jumpers any more!!

He is a real star and possibly should be in a Pony Club/Riding Club home but that is too bad because he is mine and he is staying here! He is worth his weight in gold.

He is a gorgeous boy! And how is Lucy?

Thanks - he's grown big and bold!

Lucy has had a few setbacks in terms of health, but is now well and mostly "retired" to hacking. I say "retired" as between her two sharers + me she is getting out almost 16 hours of hacking per week. That's like a part-time job!

Lucy remains the Original HotCob!, the most perfect of cobs or even of all horses!
She's so perfect I feel the need to look down at her mane most of the time :D :D :D

Beautiful horses Soot, really lovely and soooo clean!

I have to say though - what an extraordinary indoor school... is that someones home or something?

I have an Irish sports cob :)

He is amazing in every way and wouldn't swap him for the world. We have done all activities and place most outings.
He is now semi retired to hacking but is in no way a novice ride and leaves every other horse on the yard jogging behind to keep up.
After writing all that tell me why I am getting a new horse on Sunday that is a thoroughbred? I should have looked for another sports cob :)

Oh bless, she looks great!

ahh that made me chuckle i always tell people my little cob is just a warmblood in disguise! she's a cob-blood :D she's part bred welsh with a bit of cob along the way! but i think she disguises well, i keep her feathers clipped off and her mane pulled so none realises ;)

she's 4years old, loves to jump learns well on the flat and does a beautiful dressage test and and doesn't have hotblood tendencies! (unless fed haylege :L ) defiantly the best sort of horse to have! turn her hoof to anything she even came 2nd in a big potential sport horse class which i entered unintentionally because i thought i'd entered the hunter class - late entry later and she won that class too and went reserve! now that is a true all rounder ;)

She's gorgeous - I'm very drawn to her type - I have a WB at the moment but fancy something like her when my boy retires. :)

thank you :) shes so easy to do - we've got a rising 2yo aswell from the same breeder who should make the same sort of build but maybe not as tallk unless he has a big growth spurt! i would be looking for something with a bit of native blood to get the same sort of build

I love these threads, great cobs all of you! Here's mine, the miniclyde...

apologies if the pic is wrong, photobucket has just changed shape so anything could happen!

HenryCob, now older and rocking round with his owner. He's 14hh just, and (like all small Welsh men) truly believed he was considerably bigger and very handsome!

He was fantastic, utter star :D Lunatic, but any pony his height and shape hurtling round 3'3-3'6 ODEs on a regular basis needed to be I reckon! He was also a jump off machine- he would literally jump off no stride, turned on a sixpence and beat all the skinny little BS ponies ;) Admittedly, when he jumped in an indoor, it did sound like the charge of the light brigade he thundered so much :D :D

Wow, wasn't expecting to see so many fab Sports Cobs when I started this thread! Gives me great hopes for my 4 year old SC, seeing all these non-conformist athletes...!
