following on from the Whos horse doesnt run over to see you thread, i just wondered how many have horses that get all excited & rush over only to forget how to stop!!

on the days when SWA is being sociable he canters over but seems to forget to stop, im not talking sliding in at last min but litrillay runs through me then looks guilty & is all lovey dovey with me.
anyone else??

I don't think mine forgets to stop exactly, more that she thinks it's fun to scare me into thinking "She's not going to go through that fence is she??".

She charges over, and either does a pogo stick style bounce to stop within 2 strides, or does a pogo stick style bounce round a very tight circle before prancing back off in an exaggerated trot/passage, flicking her toes. She doesn't often skid to a halt, but she does pogo right up to my nose sometimes. *sigh*

Just remembers to.

But thinking about it the other day my horse wanted to come for a carrot...... but forgot to move his legs and ended up on his front knees!!!! Lol

Harvey does this, he'll see me then he does the head down 100mph gallop at me, the one where you can virtually hear him making car noises like children do. Then he'll skid about 3 feet from me.. often flooring himself.

my horse came belting over the other morning and screeched to a halt just in front of me. Trouble was he had just had front shoes fitted (not back ones) so his front feet gripped and his back ones slid so he ended up sitting down in front of me like a dog

the look on his face was priceless.

Yesss, mine isn't very good with judging stopping distances he gallops over, thinks 'sh*t must stop!!', digs in his heels and skids about 5 feet, usually ending up knocking into me (purely accidental i'm sure
