1 of mine isn't rugged as he is like a teddy bear, but once I have clipped him he will have rug on. My other 2 wearing a rug although 1 of them isn't clipped he just a big wimp lol
I need her to be dry enough to clip her fluffy winter coat is about 3 inches thick at the moment so I can't ride her until I clip her she is of course quite happy with this situation
The BGL is rugged because he is fully clipped and GREY
Mine is , feeling rather impressed with my self, he would normally have a rain sheet on in august, not that he needs it im just soft . He isn't clipped yet , being done tomorrow , and has an impressive coat for an arab x , but shall have a heavy weight on from tomorrow as he is coming back dripping after every ride , and i can't cope with it ):
Generally my idx is unrugged when out, although he was in a lw no fill yesterday as it was so foggy (he's arthritic so didn't want the damp getting ino his stifles!). If it's under 5 degrees he's in a lw stable rug at night also, otherwise he comes out really stiff the next morning. But overall, he's naked!
Tb's in a lw no fill when out as he gets too hot after a bomb about!
My foal and my section A are still naked. My veteran and my broodmare are in medium weights, but the veteran has cushings and loses weight really eaily and the broodmare has no idea what growing a winter coat is.... I've seen longer summer coats!
My welsh A is still naked, he is like a bear, but being clipped on saturday so he will then have to start wearing one. My WB is rugged but not overly, just enough to keep the wind and showers off. On sunny days she has been going out starkers
Both my boys are still naked and they will be for most of the winter (unless it gets wet) I'm an evil owner who makes her ponies live out 24/7 unrugged Although they are both forest bred foresters and we do live in the new forest I'm not even feeding hay yet Although there is a frost this morning (only slight mind) so i'm shore that'll change soon. I can't believe it's nearly Dec and it's still this mild
Mine, native cob x, got a small bib/belly clip and sweating when out during the day in a lightweight turnout with no fill as we've not had a day yet in single figures so on the days when it's not raining he goes naked and is much happier in himself rather than feeling permanently clammy and damp and grumpy. He's stabled at night during the winter. He's got a coat like one of those muskoxen in Frozen Planet - slight exaggeration but his coat is as effective!
