Whos horses doesnt wear a noseband?

Think the question should be whose horse wears a noseband and why :)
I ride Malaga in a rope hackamore so the reins have got to go somewhere :D

but when I ride anything with a bit I don't use one :) Picasso has a bridle that clips to his rope halter so I guess I cheat with him :D

DD that paragraph is very similar to what i read,
JFTD got me thinking though that i sometimes use a reflective headcoller under his lordships bridle because i think it stands out more than those bridle reflector pieces, so if the noseband on the headcoller is tight enough would that do the same job as a noseband of a bridle?
N&F

yeah it would ! X

Mine don't hacking etc but have loose cavessons for showing & dressage. They serve no useful purpose for me, they don't require them so why bother ? Just more to clean etc.

This, I got a very light-hearted telling off from my Dressage instructor the other day as my 1 noseband was still on his posh bridle, as my horse was not appropriately dressed for a dressage lesson!! :)

I used to not have a noseband but now only put it on about hole 3 (so really, really loose) and that is only because I keep losing them, (which makes it inconvienient for dressage) as I HATE seeing horses with their mouths cranked shut. I genuinely think it is disgusting.
I think you will all find this interesting:

(There Is also a part 1 - history of noseband which is also very interesting.)

I've got 3 horses/ponies, no nosebands, I can't see the point in using them and I've yet to hear a convicing argument for using them. Apart from maybe using a cavesson because the owner thinks it looks nice - I can understand wanting things to look pretty! Like Jinglejoys, I do a lot of my riding in a rope halter, so of course there's a sort of noseband involved then.

Mine wear plain cavessons. Alf, bless him is too ugly to go without - he has a head like a dinosaur! And the welsh looks ridiculous without one. I dont know why but it's my bugbear!! My one and only bit of OCD!

Depends on the horse. The mare I used to compete on, I started off without one but then changed her bit and added a nose band and she was a completely better horse to ride.

On my old boy, I needed a tom thumb plus a nose band because he pulled like an ox when he decided he wanted to do something or would open his mouth up and do his own thing. Mind you, the tom thumb and nose band went together with re-training but I simply had better control with him all done up!

My current horse I rode at first with one, then it broke so didn't bother, then he decided he didn't like schooling and would open his mouth so I bought a new one but since coming back into riding after having my bub I don't bother with one. If I was to start schooling again it would depend on how he went.

Mine don't wear nosebands, my old horse is happier without it and my young horse wears a snaffle bridle with a curb strap western style. Personally I would not want to strap my horse down or close his mouth tight with gadgets, so if I compete I just have them wear a plain flat noseband with two fingers widths between flesh and strap, as a noseband used to be worn. I think crank nosebands are cruel.

My daughter's horse Basil doesn't wear one in the school but needs a grackle out hacking or doing xc

My cob doesn't like anything on her face. If she has a head collar on she tries to rub it off. She has a plain flat noseband done up loosely but I often ride without one.

I always use a noseband! I need something to attach the standing martingale too. I like crank nosebands as well - nothing more satisfying than getting one over on a gobby horse...

I hope that was a joke Auslander
A crak/flash combo- was any invention so cruel?Dressage a la mode-dreadful

But it doesn't hurt them if they behave themselves! It's like banging your head against a brick wall - you only have yourself to blame for the bruising and concussion.
