Hiya guys, just about to buy my first 3.5 tonne horsebox at 18 years old so obviously insurance is going to be on the expensive side. Just wondered where I could look for it because there isn't a go compare website for it! HA.
So yeah, what's your recommendations? All responses appreciated.

I've got my box with KBIS they are absolutely brilliant. I have had to claim this year but they dealt with it so quickly & efficiently...brilliant!

Used NFU for decades. Probably not the cheapest but they have been super when I needed them.

I would advise road rescue combined in the policy, unless you are sure you can fix any problems and get your horses home if your lorry lets you down.

I moan at the £300 ish premium every year, but it was cheap when I broke down on the M25 at 6pm on a Friday night coming back from The Royal International with another 250 miles in front of me.

NFU co-ordinating everything, police, gantry warnings, highways agency, vet if needed, rescue tow truck, 2nd lorry with an experienced handler on board, a secure holding area to get horse off my truck and onto another after the lorry had been tipped and towed to safety. The only they didn't supply was a bucket of valium for me, never experienced stress like that night !

Over the years they have increased in price but the service is good and hopefully stays that way.

I'm with Anthony D Evans. Haven't had to claim or call them out so can't comment on that. Read mixed reviews, some good, some bad.
A lot of people complain about the recovery and that they tow rather than arrange alternative transport but for me, I only go local so I don't see it as a problem. If I were travelling around the country I'd get a different cover.

I am in the same position as you. I spoke to the NFU who I was recommended because of their great recovery package. Then I spoke to the underwriters who actually provide the package and the insurers they recommend and combined it came to £250 less than the al inclusive NFU quote!

The recovery agency I found on the RAC website offered basic recovery for £125per annum(thecompany and RAC work together and i found their number advertised under the RAC's trailer recovery) and the insurers are Draytons- 01603 262 610 their insurance came to £17.50pcm!
