well we have had many a post about maniac livery yard owners, but what about the horse owners?? i think it is only fair we see what the yard owners have to put up with!!!
i think i ment to rudest two people of my life today!!! Mr A and Miss B have an unfit horse with suspected kissing spines, despite recommendations from the saddler, farrier, chiropractor and vet, they wont do anything about it and insist they have an olympic standard event horse (belive me they dont!)
Anyway, this horse is totally unfit and quite poor in condition because the owners undermine the good work of the yard staff on a regular occasion. Mr A and Miss B had friends around on sunday and wanted to show off the scope of their 'internationally talented event horse! :O'. she Mr A pops up a 3'6 fence and Miis B jumps it after 5 mins warm up, a course of 3ft - 3'3ft jumps is put up and the horse is schooled on this for 1hr+.
The horse at this point sounded as if his wind had broken. they led him back to the yard and i pointed out blood coming from an injury to he corenet band on the hind hoof, right on the coffin joint. It looked quite nasty. She looked at me and asked how the f!ck would i know as i know nothing about horses!! :O (i was fuming at this point!!! but was nice and walked away
).
Long story short, Miss B couldnt be bothered to muck out that day so didnt (even though he is deep littered and haddnt been mucked out for 3 days), didnt treat the wound, put him away and they both left. I checked water and hay before i left, but i didnt feel it my place to muck out, as i am only a livery also.
On wednesday the hind leg was the size of a tree trunk! hot painful swelling was around the corrinet band and the horse could barely stand on it. let along walk. So come emergency transport to the vets and stay over night. Infection had set in but they had drained it. On thrusday the owners pressured the vet to release the horse, on the understanding the horse would be observed every 2 hours, not allowed to walk anywhere other than in the stable, and if their was any more swelling/lameness, the horse came straight back.
YO, YM and myself looked at the horse today, took off all the dressings etc. Not good. Horse had a very swollen leg (didnt know they could swell quite like that!) with heat the whole way up it. It had cellulitus up to the hock and horrible pus seeping from several new wounds around the corinet band. Absolutly dog lame. Call to vet, who insists the horse is walked to try reduce swelling and brought back in. Call to owner (Miss B and Mr A). Who then dash to the yard.
then it starts....
'THIS YARD IS INCOMPETENT! THIS IS NOT MISS B'S FAULT! THIS YARD IS SH!T, NO ONE HERE OWNS A DECENT HORSE! (cough excuse me?! *was offered 40k for horse as a 3yo, they paid £1,500 for theres....*)' Mr A got more and more irrate, screaming at the YM for walking the horse, even after it was explained that was vet instructions! he jabbed his finger in YO shoulder and almost slapped her :O and tried to raise his voice to me! (i told him to wind his neck in and sod off).
Miss B almost refused to bring horse back to vet because she didnt want the extra cost etc, but i think she is going to (left before i got more involved).
Due to Mr A's seemingly violent and volitile nature, they are not to return to the yard and have until 5pm tonight to leave the premisis. They have been nothign but trouble. Some on here are aware of my injuries and my current rehabiliatation...i was having a private lesson, but i dont begrudge others sharing the arena as long as we all stick to arena rules...but Miss B CANTERED her new horse (had this one 1 week) into, yes i actually mean, into my horse 'because he is so highly bred she couldnt stop!' i was fuming, my mare went mental and kicked him in the shoulder (serves him right), really upset her, and as he moved, he clonked my leg. OUCH, im ashamed to say it shock me up so much i cried and had to dismount and limp back to yard.
Miss B is so jealous of me and my mare its sickening. Im an glad they are gone, but i feel sorry for the horse. TBH he needs more knowledgabe owners (this is their first horse, ever) and they dont have a clue!
I really felt for YO and YM, as Mr A was SCREAMING at them infront of me and other liveries, not cool!
anyway, thats my horror story
now yours
