Am off work today as very poorly an boss said yesterday hope you've got some one looking after your horse so you can have a rest, I don't but managed to rope non horsey brother into lugging haynets about this morn which was a big help an very nice of him as he's scared of horses!

It got me thinking that if an emergency happened an I couldn't look after her for example if I had an accident an was in hospital or if I came off on a hack an couldn't walk her home or worse if we were both injured on a hack I would really struggle as I'm not sure who I could contact at short notice.

Was wondering who other folk had as their emergency contact? Family, friend or professional person?

I've got my parents as mine. They live in Devon, so not exactly local, but they have contact numbers for various local people who can help in a time-sensitive emergency.

If you have a smart phone will people be able to unlock it and see your ICE contact if the worst were to happen? If not I strongly suggest you set it as your screen saver or mark it on the phones body. :)

My phone doesn't have a lock on it. ICE is listed, first instance my parents who would know enough about horses to sort me/horse/whatever had gone on out. To be honest though, if I was still reasonably conscious and my first priority was the horse I'd call my boss, we live in the same village so she could get to horse quickly, and she's calm and very capable of handling an upset injured horse. Then I have the number of a trusted friend who'd be able to take over with horses from then on. I also have my wonderful vet & good friend listed ICE if there's an accident with the horse and for whatever reason I am not able to sort treatment out myself.
