Popped down to my boys this evening, were both galloping around, saw me flashing the torch, came speeding over for their nightly pear! Feel rather guilty! Both stood there, jumping at their own shadows! It is windy and is peeing it down out there! Watched me walking off until I got into the garden and out of sight! Moving them into my timber stables, now its got a new roof, but need to move their matting over and the electric's gone, so also waiting for the sparky to come and fix next week! Can bring them into their old stables (with matting) but the sparky's also meant to be coming out to rewire the whole block! Seems pointless though to bring them in onto new beds, to have to move the whole lot in a weeks time! It's not me being disorganised, it's a case of the landlord wanting lots of quotes and the electrician needing to pull his finger out! I'v only been pestering now for 10 months!!!

I do feel bad for them though, know they're ready to come in now. Although I keep telling myself, they're horses, they'll be okay! Although after my tb's recent accident to his face, I'm quite anxious about it! So, anyone else's horses still out at night, that aren't normally out all year?

Mine are still out! They'll be out until the frosts start coming :)

They all seem pretty happy really with just the odd tantrum when they realise they're staying out but they'd rather be in!

mine are still out (with rugs this evening) they are coming in not next weekend the weekend after if you get me? this is just what i have been told but the other people on the yard but i can bring them in when ever but i have to move matts and buy bedding yet so not quite ready for them to come in anyway :)

Mine are. Although BH is starting to show signs of wanting to be in. When I go to turn him out after riding at night he hides at the back of his box. I think they might come in this weekend. Useless beasts!

ours are still out and still in their summer fields. they'll be there until the summer fields get eaten off or too wet. then they'll continue to be out until at least the end of this month. They may even stay out longer if the weather isn't too wet and windy!

they are both rugged come the end of this month, but so long as Tom doesn't get cold they'll stay out. why muck out for longer than necessary?!

Ours are out and come in during the winter, though we aim to keep them out as long as possible. They came in for a few nights a few weeks back to give them a rest and get the youngster used to coming in. I know what u mean though, when its weather like I got outside my window, I feel bad thinking of them out. Not so long ago I woke in the night to hammering rain and gales and couldn't get back to sleep for worrying about them (oh and my rabbits out in it!!)
But yes they are horses!!

I've brought ours in but only because it is getting too dark for the evening liveries to see to get their horses in and out of the fields. I would be a little worried about the paddocks with the trees in in this wind though, but would be happy for them to be out in the other paddocks. But they all seem pleased to be in. They are all wusses.

mine is too, I am a really cruel mom cos he is the only one still out. Good job he is good on his own.

Although it wasn't deliberate tonight I didn't realise all the others were coming in.

I will no doubt bring him in the next day or so

I am starting to question whether I could make it to the clocks changing with them still out (all have to come in at this point anyway). I never have before but I am beating previous years already so may try and press on!

Mine would be had he not decided to be a complete hooligan in the field and rip most of his shoes off and damage his check ligament :( So now he's on box rest. There are a couple in overnight all year but don't think the others are coming in until the end of the month.

Pleased I'm not the only one who's not ready for them to come in yet! Yeah that's probably about the time when mine will come in, if they'll cope! They're such wimps! I have to time it just right, if they're in too early, my tb gets all stressed in box and too late, my id gets his knickers in a knot out, which rubs off onto my tb!

all ours are out, including the oldest (32) and the youngest (18moths). they'll be staying out till the end of this month or possibly part of next month too :) they're all fine apart from occassionally crowding around the gate to come in but then they realise that they're staying out and just walk off :)

Someone told my mum that we're due snow on friday! No idea where they heard that, I'v not seen any indication of snow in this area this week! Not ready for that yet!

Mollie's still out, unrugged and seems fine.

I've only had her since June so this will be "our" first winter. I'm told the YO will decide (with little or no notice) when they are all to come in. It's basically when he thinks the fields are just too wet.

I'm a little worried as I often work 24 hour + shifts, so if I'm on one of those I won't be able to get to the yard to fetch her in. I don't want her left out on her own so I'll leave her stable set up for her to come in and ensure someone else will bring her in. I hate depending on other people though, I'd like to see her bedded down for myself.

I'm a little apprehensive about the winter generally: early starts all weather, driving in the snow if there is any, how M will react to being in, how I'm going to arrange her care around my shift system...

I'm excited too though! I'll see so much more of her! :):)

Oh bless him! Mine tends to do that when I want to pull his mane ;)

I'm beating previous years too, it's normally the end of sept at the latest! Think that hot weather threw a lot of us!

Mine are still out, but may bring them in at night from this weekend - if OH picks up bedding. I find myself starting to prefer mucking out to poo picking at this time of year.

I used to work shifts, 24hr+ etc. It is hard when you've got horses, being organised, relying on others. On my days off, I used to help others out, to repay them and also make all my nets up for the week etc! I do love sitting on their banks at night, with a cuppa tea and having a chat with them!
