I am having the saddle fitter out tomorrow and god the forecast is terrible, I'm having a dressage saddle and I should be looking forward to it, but I'm not.

My horse is still a baby and has a tendancy to rush his paces and his canter still needs alot of work. I'm getting myself in a tizz wondering what the saddle fitter will think of us. My instructer mentioned last week to try and ride him for a while so he relaxes and stops rushing, but with all this rain the school surface is slippey and in places flooded.

Oh hell I've only been waiting for this for about 5 weeks and now the weather is cr*p, I've not done much with him in these 5 weeks because of his saddle - didn't see the point in damaging him so I feel like I'm going to make a complete fool of myself.

Tell me I'm being stupid.
 
He will have seen much much worse - honestly!

Dressage saddles were the invetion of the God's - have fun trying them - you'll spend enough for the priviledge!

Haha- I'm not so sure, your right I'm being stupid but I'm still worried I'm going to make myself look a right prat!
 
Yes, don't be daft, the saddler will have seen all sorts before and anyway, what does it matter what he thinks of you. he's there to fit your saddle, not pass judgement on you.
Why don't you lunge your youngster for a while prior to the fitting.

you're the customer, if he's got any sense he'll think you're God for the time he's there...!
don't get flustered or rushed into anything, it's a lot of money to part with and a big decision so make sure you have a really good trial of everything he brings and really concentrate on how they feel, not how it looks!
my saddler, fwiw, let me try about 6 dr saddles properly, and even go back and try the first one again to be sure of how it felt compared to the others. it took a couple of hours but was well worth it. and he didn't refer to me as "the customer from hell" either.

Your saddler is there to help and assist and hopefully improve you and your ned if the current saddle is no good.

He wont be judging you, he'll see you have a baby on your hands.

I am sure you'll be fine.
 
I can't get this wrong because I've wasted too much money in the past buying the wrong saddle probably by having the wrong fitter up.

This saddle fitter has been recommended to me by my instructer who I trust implicitly and also people on here, but I've heard she can be a forceful character, but will not sell you anything if she feels its not right for you and your horse.

I'm sure things won't be as bad as I am making out. I shouldn't worry what people thik of me but I do.
 
Good idea about lunging , will try that if it stops raining the forecast is heavy rain all day, so I need vibes for a dry hour or 2 about midday!
