Just out of curiosity, why and how do you feed grass nuts?

Can they help build up condition?

Do you feed them in a feed, instead of chaff or alongside a feed as a partial forage re-placer?

If you feed them as part of a hard feed, what do you feed them with?

Also, are grass nuts the same sort of thing as ready grass and graze-on?

Thanks :)

I feed grass nuts in the winter. In the summer he just gets a handful of chaff and Spillers Lite Balancer. In the winter, I bulk it up a bit with a small scoop of grass nuts.

He loves them.

I feed alfa/timothy grass cubes, soaked, as a partial hay replacer - no choice.

Hay is at a premium this year, prices are sky high for hay shipped in from Quebec, out West or up from the States, I have had to look at alternatives, and winter here has really only just begun.

We feed grassnuts to our retired, ex-broodie cob. We soak them, add soaked Speedibeet and a similar amount of dried grass chaff, we use Graze-on. Without the chaff, she is prone to choke. We started to feed them after she had an extended bout of colic and lost a lot of weight suddenly. She put her weight back on and we now feed grassnuts to maintain her weight. The amount is easliy adjusted to keep her weight steady. We do not give any form of cereal.

I feed them soaked as my horses get the runs from Hay so they only have a small amount of hay the grass nuts maintain their forage intake

I feed when the horses which live out are stabled for any reason.

I went with the Young Farmers to a bull lay off station (where the bulls live while their offspring are evaluated to see if the bulls were any good to be used nationally for AI) the 30+ bulls in residence got fed nothing but grass nuts and looked really well on them. Some folk did not believe that they got nothing else, ever.

I feed Badminton grass nuts because my boy loves them He expects hard feed but doesn't really need it, so gets mainly grass nuts and chaff. The Badminton grass nuts are big and chunky, so I also use them as treats.
