You said New 4x4 and trailer in your original post which would be a good £25K of anyone's money. I bought a 6 year old Iveco 7.5t for £5K. Can you actually tow 2 big horses with a Sorrento - they look a bit flimsy. Even with your £5K Sorrento you have forgotten the cost of the trailer - another £3k? Now you are up to £8k. Why on earth are people snobs if they own a lorry?

That is new to me! Sorry, I've never owned a new new car in my life so perhaps my standards are a bit different! And yes, you can tow two with a Sorrento (well the old one, the brand new one not so much) I wouldn't spend more than 2.5 on a trailer myself but again I probably have low standards. So that's 7.5K for a reasonably new car with only 60,000 miles on the clock and a full service history plus a solid trailer.

Perhaps you live somewhere I don't, or no people I don't but I have never seen a box that's only 6 years old for 5K round here.

And I said it in a very tongue in cheek way originally as it seems to be the case with people I know. Most of them think it is totally beneath them to pull a trailer and then moan like mad that their lorry just cost £1000 to get through it's plating! Given that most of them go out about three times a year I don't see the logic of it but there you go. Each to their own and it makes no difference to me! :)

have been trying to sell our lorry for a while now and have had no luck at all, i think its reasonably priced compared to some, would even part ex for something slightly bigger if we can find somthing suitable, failing that we are going to have a look at changing the horse area and extending it into the living, anyone know of any good places that could do this at a reasonable cost ?? :)

Meant to comment again on this for a few days, but couldnt until I got on my laptop to find the post... I wasnt prepared to go through tons of pages on my mobile... anyways!

After this post it got me thinking and wandering around my dad's farm, who has some brand spanking new tractors costing £££,£££ and a combine which cost more than some houses do, we still have the old faithfuls... the smokey, slow but reliable tractors older than A reg tractors that are still chugging away starting first time every time. Although you dont have miles on the clock, its hours with tractors, they have done a fair odd going up and down fields all their lives. These old girls would still cost you 2.5k if in working order, so like lorries, I think your paying for the strength, the fact they are designed to last longer, and also you get scrap weight when the day comes and its just not worth getting going again.
