Sorry all, but I am so annoyed...about 5 or 6 weeks ago I arrived at my building to find not 2, but 3 horses in the field. I called my boys up and they came, with the other horse following. They both seemed quite calm but the mare was distressed, she had a cut (not big, just needed cleaning type of thing) on her leg and she was snorting and trotting up and down the fence line. I managed to calm her down, checked her over carefully, not lame, cleaned her leg and fixed it up etc. There is a livery yard about a quarter of a mile up the road, where my friend keeps her horses and I happen to know that this mare was from there, because I've seen her when I've been helping my friend there. I called my friend, asked her to tell the owner (I don't know the owner) and she said the owner had been looking for her and they would come right away. They got there a few minutes later and the woman was screaming and shouting at me, accusing me of stealing her horse! I told her very calmly that I hadn't stolen her, I'd arrived and she had been in the field already, but she had a small cut on her leg and I had cleaned it up. She then started screaming louder and accusing me of purposefully hurting her horse so that 'she couldn't get away' I told her that I would never do such a thing and that I would never hurt an animal. She then started shouting that I was a liar, over and over again!

While all this was happening my friend was in the building consoling my children, (my two daughters were crying, they don't like shouting) and the mare and my boys were distressed. I told her could she please stop because she was upsetting my horses, my children and her mare and me, and that she can take her mare, I don't want her and I'm sorry that she has hurt her leg, but she will be fine and the woman promptly untied the mare and stormed off up my drive with her! I might also add that she took Wellie's headcollar, nothing of value but still the principle, and left my children me and the boys upset. After a lot of consoling and carrots everyone was okay and me and Em (friend) looked around the field, there was no damage, so we think the mare jumped in over the gate and then the fence. (Too high for my boys but the mare is about 17h).

Anyway managed to forget, and then about 2/3 weeks ago my mums friend was telling me about how a chestnut mare had got into her paddock today (she lives a mile away) and that the owner had come to get it shouting and screaming and taken it back to the livery yard. She said how appalled she was at the woman's attitude and that if one of hers got out then she would be thankful it was safe.

Anyway fast forward to today and I get a call from Em asking me if I'm at the horses. I say yes and she just said 'you're not going to believe this' and the line went off. A few minutes later said woman arrives with Em in tow screaming at me (once again) that she wants money from me because one of my boys has gotten her mare pregnant! I looked at her blankly for a while before telling that she must be mistaken because my boys are both Geldings. Then she is telling me that she doesn't believe me! I'm annoyed because I'm in the middle of something and I now have to go and get my two boys who have been gelded since they were probably 1, and their both in their teens, to show some arrogant woman that they don't have any balls. Reaalllllyyyyy annoyed now.

And then, when I bring them up to the yard and tie them up and the woman starts looking at their 'areas' trying to inspect for balls!!!! And THEN, she starts putting her hand around there to see if she can flipping feel their balls!!! After me telling her over and over that they are certainly both Geldings, she STILL doesn't flipping well believe me!!! She's actually telling me that she wants proof that they're geldings!!!!

So there's me, standing there with my three children staring in shock as a woman feels our beloved pony and horses 'balls' as Em shakes her head and I give her instructions as to where their passports are at my home. Ten minutes later she arrives with the passports and the woman looks at them, checks them over and she looks at me and tells me that these passports must be wrong! I seriously cannot believe her, I am still in shock now that she actually thought that they were Stallions. I then lost it, telling her that they are CLEARLY Geldings, she's already felt for any balls, checked their passports and I told her straight that it would be ridiculous for me to keep them as stallions (even though I bought them as geldings) because they are only used mainly as hackers, they jump and do some shows but that's about it, they aren't used for breeding and I let my three children around them! She then looked at me, dropped the passports, turned around and walked away! I can't believe her! So annoyed that she has verbally abused me, made my horses and children and me upset, taken my head collar and lead rope (again, principle) and could've damaged my horses passports had it been muddy. UGHH!!

Sorry but just needed to rant:( feeling very upset...sorry about the essay!

You must be a saint like person, she would have been getting my fist in her face long before getting her hands on my horses non-existent balls.

you have far more patience than me!, after the calm approach had failed i would have lost it and told her to eff off and inform her that if i saw her near my property or horses again i would be kicking her ass into next month, deranged woman!!!

Blimey! To be honest, their is a bit of 'character' like that who lives near me and I strongly suspect he has mental health issues.

I think it might be worth banning her from your property now though. She's caused enough upset and mental health issues or not, their is no reason to allow yourself to be subjected to that kind of abuse.

Incidentally, I had a similar incident with our local character. I mentioned it to our local PCSO in passing and he strongly recommended calling 101 if something similar happened again to make sure they logged the details in case it might be needed in the future.

I really hope this is the last you see of this woman.

Hope you can forget about and enjoy your weekend. x

Wow sounds like a proper nutter, if she enters your premises again I would call the police for trespass and threatening behavior.

Seriously. I would have told her to F off! She would not be examining or touching my horses and she certainly wouldn't be talking to me like that. She sounds absolutely crazy!! I would tell her she is not to come on your property again.

How awful!

Next time - phone the police! 999, never mind 101, they'll route you through to the same handler if it's something which is happening now anyway.

I'd be going round to collect my headcollar and telling the daft bint that best she sort her horse out, or the next time I find it hassling my geldings, I will turn it loose/have it removed depending on circumstances.

Well, I guess if she shows up again you could always demand proof that she owns the mare...oh, and payment for the head collar and use of grazing too. You know, since she clearly doesn't care to have anyone do favours for her.

I would call the police now and tell them what has happened-she sounds like a unstable woman and you should get your story to the police first before she does.

Lucky my horses are, if I was a horse I would've kicked her in the head! They kind of looked at me helplessly as she fondled them, but they have too much manners to kick.

He sounds like a real charmer! It just shakes you, some people are unbelievable.

She sounds completely nuts !
Do you suppose they get completely nutty people at golf clubs starting strange brouhahas about golf shorts or do we just get them all.

Good move calling the police. I would be asking my friend on her livery yard to ask for the head collar too.

If she comes near you again don't humour her, tell her you have already called the police before, so unless she wants a criminal record she should leave right now.

Ditto Honey!

No wonder her poor mare tries to escape and hide in another herd. Poor poor horse hate to think what she endures.

Is it only me and my suspicious mind thats thinking that she deliberately put her mare in with your boys as some kind of half witted scam! Maybe she is after some form of compensation for her 'pregnant' mare!

I read the start and thought " poor woman was probably just so frantic about losing here mare then finding her injurerd, that she lost all common sense, and will come back to thank you with a bottle of wine later"

Then I read the rest - OMG!! Absolute nutter! Im usually quite calm and laid back, but Id have definitely be telling this woman where to go! Well done OP for being so calm! Next time she comes anywhere near you tell her to ******* off!

My thoughts were similar, but more along the lines of - if this only happened 5/6 weeks ago, why would she even suspect her mare was up the duff?

I have a mare and to be honest, I don't know when she was last in season!

Has she actually had the mare scanned?

Total fruit loop in any event

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you OP, can I have some of your patience please?!

You have done nothing wrong and this woman clearly needs help.

All I can concentrate on is the rather disturbing image of some crazy psycho fondling your horses non-existent balls..... Your patience clearly extends to your poor violated horses. What a lunatic.

If she comes back call the Police!

Gosh poor you OP. So sorry your girls were upset.

Have to say though, the woman really does seem as though she has mental health issues which is a shame for her, but doesn't mean you should have to deal with her behaviour. Good job you have called the police and if she sets foot near your horses again get straight back on the phone to them!
