I am looking for a new saddle as mine was stolen recently. I have just received the insurance money and have the cash to pay outright. I have been looking on Pre loved and have E Mailed and phoned several sellers. Only one has had the decency to reply. I appreciate they may have been sold but how long does it take to send a quick text or E Mail? Have some people no manners these days?

I've had the same problem with saddlers!! Our of three I contacted recently, one took two weeks to reply and that was simply to tell me to ask someone else who dealt with the same saddles - no contact details, I had to look them up! The other two I haven't even had a reply from (one voicemail message and one web enquiry after her phone was engaged, so I used the enquiry form). You'd think when trying to give someone £500 in this climate, they'd be a little more responsive!

I find that some buyers on preloved are a bit odd tbh.

I sold my trailer and advertised it on there a few years ago - I had lots of emails and I emailed everyone back, within two hours someone had arrived with cash money to collect it.

When I returned to preloved hours later to remove the ad, I had an email back from one of the previously interested who had sent me an essay about her and her horse, and how she was so excited to come and view my trailer in two weeks time, and that it was her dream come true to be able to take her horse away with her.

Once I had emailed back telling her I had sold it I received a very abusive email from her, an email from her OH telling me how I had "ripped her world to shreds" an email from her mum telling me how much I have hurt her, and even a few ridiculous text messages. Honest to god I won't sell anything through there again!!!!

Disappointed but glad I'm not the only one struggling to get responses, sellers on ebay seem to be as bad. Surely the whole point is they want to sell them, or have I missed the point?? Not sure either how people expect to sell with only one line of detail and no picture to help you.

I did reply to the two people who responded to my queries with a thanks but no thanks when given measurements that I'd asked for. Seemed the polite thing to do really even though the saddles were not going to be suitable.

Ach when you are selling in the equine market you have to develop a tough skin :) Doesn't bother me anymore. Either someone wants to sell their wares or they don't. If they do then great I'll buy, if they don't get back to me then I just move on. Same with selling my horses, if people email me asking for this and that, I send this and that. I never get back in touch with them, if they are truly interested in the horse then they'll get back to me in their own sweet time. I expect I was similarly impatient when I was younger but now I'm older I simply don't care.
