Went to look at a horse for sale couple of weeks ago... we didnt really get on, so I told the owner I didnt think that we would be suited... I then got a barrage of rude and nasty emails from the owenr

rang up about another one earlier on in the week, owner just slammed the phone down on me....

And before anyone lays into me, no I am not a timewaster, and I was never rude to them...

I went to see a horse which was meant to be 101% traffic proof, good at this, good at that and aged about 8. When we got there owner rode mare up the road - who was shying into traffic, away from traffic, the lot. Against my better judgement got on (why, bangs head) - first she nearly ran up somebody's drive away from a car and the second time she span. Jumped off and said to the owner, no, not for me. She spent all the time walking back to the yard saying "I know she's the one for you, I know she's the one for you...". Then kept getting texts saying would never find anything as bombproof etc etc. Finally got a snotty text saying she had sold her to a dealer and I had missed an angel!

I have no idea why people are rude. Desperation to sell, financial pressure, who knows...

Behaviour seems OTT for someone trying horse and not thinking it right horse for them, not every horse you try is perfect for everyone

was the second one the same owner??

Yes it's disconcerting when you get this sort of behaviour when you've only tried to be polite & honest.

I experienced a milder version when I decided against seeing a spooky horse - Cat was spooky & after 4 1/2 years of sudden spins if he was in a particular mood, I think I know what probs I don't want to buy!

Don't give up - you'll find the right horse for you.

tbh - I am glad that I am not the only one that has had it, I was beginning to wonder if I was doing something wrong....

I can not believe people would do that. I would prefer someone to be honest and say a horse I was selling was not suitable

I put up an advert wanting a small (under 12hh) first pony.

I had so many eejits phone me up.

First man offered me a 14.2hh coloured cob, free, if I collected it from way up north. "sweet and kind". Yeah, right! He got narky when I politely said thanks but no thanks. He tried and tried to convince me that it'd be perfect for us. In the end OH had to tell him to stop phoning.

Second was a lady who emailed me photos of an ex puk champion. He really was stunning, and he'd taught alot of kids, but was ready to retire from the showring. Yeah, great, all set to go and see him, except she told us he was 200 miles nearer than he actually was. When I said we wouldnt be able to come that day as plannned as we needed extra travelling time I got a barrage of abusive emails.

And last but not least the lady who offered me two shetties. At the time I really didnt want a shettie and said to her that a) i didnt have room for two and b) thought a shettie might be too small and strong for what I wanted. She screamed at me.. "you should be eff*** grateful for what you get offered you arrogant cow".

I had a simular problem when I bought my horse. Although not rude really more strange.
We went to see charly as a protential loan as the owner did not have enough time for him. He was lovely and had not been ridden for a while but I agreed I would have him on loan.
It then took 3 months before we finally got him. The owner wanted him to go a friends yard where she would training him and see if I got on with him...right, didnt mind that. After organsing my first lesson it seemed to take ages before we got a reply about what was happening and we discovered that the friend had actually been planning to take him on herself and it felt like it was now a bit stabbing. We bascially had to pester and fight to then get the horse and it felt exhausting by the end...
Little did I know my husband has actually agreed to buy him after our first visit for me as a wedding surprise. People can be funny cant they!!
