I have spent a nightmare last 10 days. My horse hates fireworks, not those in the distance, but those my neighbours decided to let off on the 31st (halloween) then the friday saturday and sunday. and lo and behold tonight. Luckily sedalin helped so much and it's been a godsend and having never used it before I am wondering why I've never thought of it. However having given him 2mls of a 10 ml tube he promptly laid down and went to sleep and I was so worried I had to call the vet back who laughed and told me he was a cheap date!! Said he's known 2 tubes not to touch the side of some ponies andyet my beautiful sleepy boy is 17.1 !!! As i type this they are going on all around me and I will be in and out of the house to check as i worry so much. When will this end??? Am i the only one who dreads this time of year?

I don't dread it as mine are fine with them...I have an 18 year old very sensible mare...who keeps my 3yo and 2yo calm...they're out in the field watching them.
If your boy has sedalin, he'll be fine (although 2mls is not much to knock him out!)...and after tonight I think that'll be it until Hogmanay

it honestly sounds like and air raid outside and I just can't understand it? Last weekend yes but tonight? I think they should be confined to organised displays really IMO. Sedalin has been amazing and lasts for hours, yet my trainer says 6mls on his horse last an hour and he doesn't fall asleep. My horse isn't normally bothered but the banging directly over head really worries him and he nearly slipped on our yard when a load went off. We are out in the country with lots of animals around us so I'd like to think people would understnad a bit more ...

there is some moron over the road from us who for the last 2 hours has been letting off rocket after rocket after rocket, id half tempted to go over there light one and shove it where the sun doesnt shine..

i know how you feel! animals hate the things and I thought we were a nation of animal lovers??? I would never have them at home. even my chickens are terrified lol.

So do I. I'm sure it must have been them that set a fire going in the woods next to our horses and then set fireworks whooshing across the field. So glad YO was on site to bring my recently injured one in. We don't really have any houses round by the horses and the ones that are there own horses themselves. So annoyed because it wasn't even bonfire night and I'd only just been able to put her out after box rest and with her swollen leg she really needed to walk it off

we do have neighbours, a row of cottages, at the botton of our drive and across the road and it's them! pointing them in our direction and yes as it goes chavs do spring to mind!

Peace at last, they appear to have stopped! Off to bed now been at your horse live all day and fit to drop. had to make sure boy was happy before I could sleep ... thanks for listening everyone, has taken my mind off the air-raid outside.

Please keep signing the fireworks petition it is now in the top 50 Petition the PM
It needs to be huge for Downing St to take notice but when questioned in Parliament Gordon Brown promised to keep legislation under review
If you search on www.bbc.co.uk/news under fireworks you will find a number of distressing stories to persuade your friends also to sign
These modern fireworks are bombs and should not be in the hands of joe public or stored in their houses

I will definitely sign this, one of my wonderful neighbours tonight mention just that .... fireworks are explosives and you can buy them legally???? How wrong is that. Everyone sign it!!! Organised displays only!!!

Weve had to give Sedalin too tonight to a horse on the yard as a precaution, its a joke, just when are they going to stop. Wouldnt mind but each year we ask the people who are from a so called 'good doing' organisation who use the adjoining field for activities to let us know if they are going to have fireworks and each year they say nothing. Theres been a lot of activity there today, weve asked again but didnt get a definate answer so we have given the sedalin just incase.
My horse is 16.1 and it takes just 1ml to make him dozy, it lasts for hours too! An old friend gave hers a 2 tubes tut tut (even though she was told not too) to try and clip and it didnt touch her.

B****y things have been going off - from the same place - for over four hours solid now. It's driving me mad

Well, not horse related but o/h & I are just back from seeing a string quartet & there were fireworks going off all the way thru it, which totally spoilt the quiet bits.

I really thought they'd be finished by now.

Friday night was Diwali I think? Hence fireworks over the weekend. We had to move our horses to another yard this weekend as our yard owners are hindu and celebrate Diwali. We had lots of warning, and they advised other local yards as well, so as much as it is an inconvenience I can't complain. Our horses were safe in a field 2 miles away with nice grass!!

Thankgod my horse is ok with them but my dog is terrified, i hate the things. If it was just one or two nights then fine but they go on pretty much now till new year. I feel like taking my dog round to show them how stressed she is xx xx
