Why Are They So Over Weight??

shocked.gif

Blimmin hell , 'Chloe' even puts the cob I mentioned last night to shame

The extra weight keeps them nice and slow for novice riders. Only problem is you get them home fitten them up a little and lose some of the extra pound and next thing you know you have a lunatic cob that can pull like a steam train
smile.gif

The Equine Charities are all raving on about obesity at the mo (and rightly so!) ............................

Overweight makes it look more like a cob! Probably find an ex racer underneath all that flab

To the inexperienced eye, fat horses look in better condition and more 'well' than those at the correct weight. Hence the show condition problem. I know my dad a year ago would have looked at that horse and gone, gosh doesn't he look fabulous.

I can just imagine a little shetland appearing from under the flab

At the end of the ride you can plod home on a long rein, nice and relaxed.

Yeah beause the poor buggers are so over weight they have no energy left to take off with you!

My old SJ trainer has two ponies on loan from ILPH - they were both removed from their owners because they were grossly overweight. One of them has been with J for nearly nine months and has turned into a fab kids pony, the other one is still on a strict diet

My friend went to this place they were going under the name of bombproof then, ha what a laugh, she's still got the damaged back after 2yrs due to being bolted with and she is very experienced, I warn you all stay clear, they have also been featured in H&H as they were taken to court for selling unsuitable horses

sally73, im pretty sure that safecobs were never bombproof or any of their many other names. If that is the case (and someone on here is bound to know ) i'd be removing your post pretty sharpish if i were you.

'Heavyweight' certainly describes poor Betty - literally.
As said above, they only appear safe because they are too heavy to move any faster. I guess the prices are about right if you are buying for meat as they are sold by weight!

probably because if they are fat and lazy they are easier to sell as novice's horses??
mind you one of mine is a fatty at the mo due to being off work and turned out for a year, still, she's coming back into work at the mo and the difference in her over a couple of weeks is amazing!

"he's just started work with the Parelli Green Ball"

Is that meant to mean something? Enlighten me somebody please.

[/ QUOTE ]

Lol, I have no idea what that means but I am imgine them training the horse to go on a green space hopper, how cool a trick would that be! Though seriously with Parelli you just never know, he might well have patented a large space hopper suitable for half tonne horses
smile.gif

A green spacehopper sounds great. Imagine a field of horses bouncing about on them!!!!

Must google Parelli to find out what they really meant - probably not half as much fun as spacehoppers though.

Just googled

http://www.parellicollection.com/

Doesn't look like a fast way to weight loss.
