I should...

Really? I didn't mean it to sound that way, I'm personally not giving because neither I nor none of my loved ones would ever benefit from such a specialist centre

Well, we can at least hope not.....

It's a spinal unit in England...I am based on Scotland and rarely visit your lovely country. None of my relatives livein England and my friends are all either overseas or in Scotland so no I would never use THIS specialist care unless they close all the spinal units in Scotland and the North of England then I suppose I might just be unlucky enough to have to be flown to the other side of the country.

But what a nasty post. People are putting themselves on the line here to support a charity. Last year they raised of £4000! It was a fun and spontaneous event. It worked so well they decided to do it again this year.

Give or don't give by why make this unpleasant post.

There was no malice in my post or in the options I gave for the vote so I have no idea what you are talking about.

That's a really big shame as the person who posted the thread is nothing to do with the fundraiser as far as I'm aware, and has even said that she herself is not donating!

How very sad indeed that people have been put off supporting a great cause because of this thread when the vast majority of people contributing to the thread have nothing whatsoever to do with Godiva

Look at the posters that said they were not even aware it was going on ! If they donate will you regard that as undoing all the AWFUL things my post seems to have provoke

I have read and re read my post and people seem to have totally misread the tone, it was not accusatory in any way, more musing as to reasons that people have not donated. I have my own and wonder if people shared the view or had other reasons completely.

nobody forced anyone to post reasons, as I've said before annoymous poll, they could have voted and walked away.

I was only just alerted to this thread and want to point out that this is purley the curiosity of the OP and in NO way meant as a "push" or promotion for the Godiva fundraiser. The OP is not even connected with Godiva as far as I know and may just genuinly want to know "why" donations are low so far.

Here is my opinion.......

Godiva will be running far longer this year and we only have one person who has submitted pics thus far. In no way has momentum built up enough yet to get our donations higher. Last year it was a steady donation process with donations reaching a maximum at the fundraisers end. I suspect this year that End of July and early August will be our heated months for donations. At least I certainly hope so and wish for Godiva to be as big of a success as last year and hopefully then some. It is such a worthy cause in my opinion and I hope that our forum can have fun doing this while also helping people.

The average donation was 5 pounds per donator last year and we raised about 4,000 pounds. That tells you something about the power of our forum community and how strong we are in numbers when we come together for something. I do understand this year has been harder on many economically so I understand if donations come in as less and lower. It's ok. Our goal was only 1,000 pounds last year and we shocked ourselves at what we accomplished. If we even get what we hoped for last year I for one will be very pleased.

If you choose not to donate that is up to you. (for whatever reason) in no way is there meant to be any pressure on anyone.

I feel things should heat up for Godiva as more pics come in, more sign up to pose, more people get talking, and the reveal draws closer.

If you choose not to be involved that is more than ok and if you get involved I would like to send out an early thank you from the bottom of my heart.
