Why are you up so early?

I'm up because Jake's frozen sweetcorn "inflamed elbow therapy" has defrosted overnight and I need to change the bag to frozen peas instead. 🐾😍🐾

I was up at 3.15am - its always Ace’s favourite time to be up and about 😊 luckily he goes back to sleep afterwards 🙄😊
Heck, that's early! Our two have breakfast at 5.30 because that's the right time for Jake's medication, then they both go out to do their business and then straight back to bed. They're both fast asleep again by 6am.

Spaniel gets me up about 4, dont know how she managed in the kennels, she sits on the bed and stares at me until Iam aware of her then thunders downstairs so I have to let her out, (she never actually goes out)b ut she always has a half slice of bread in the mornings, so she has that then Im allowed back to bed for an hour. I think I will have to start taking the bread to bed with me.

So, because I did it yesterday, I was wide awake at 4 ☹️ The dog did the staring thing too so I had to get up. I did manage to go back to sleep, but I fear it’ll take me another week to get out of the habit of waking early.

The Yellow Peril woke me before 5am today, she was hungry, she did 17 miles yesterday, went to bed with a full tummy at 10.30pm but woke up with a rumbling tummy earlier than usual. She had an early breakfast and then paddled off back to bed. 🐾😍💤 she has done 15 miles today and is flat out, fast asleep. She'll have some supper before proper bedtime. I wish I had her energy!

Taking the bread to bed with you...good idea, really using your loaf (I'm sorry). They give us that "I'm really desperate to pee" look, then race to the feed cupboard giving us that "I'm really desperate to eat" look! I fall for it every time! 🐾😍🐾

Ace went for ‘please let me out NOW!’ at 2.15am today! It makes me laugh every time that Marty stays firmly asleep on his sofa, upside down with his paws in the air ❤️❤️

Were up again early because Peril needed the loo (late supper). She has now gone back to the land of nod. I am wide awake! 😃

Stiff Knees, what do you do with your dog that she does that mileage, is that why you have stiff knees !
Peril is by far the most energetic Labrador we have ever owned, I work full time so OH is responsible for clocking up the mileage with her and I help out on an evening and weekends. He walks at least 8 miles a day and because she is mainly off the lead she does additional mileage. She wears a Fitbark 2 activity monitor and we've found it to be pretty accurate. Stiff Knees is a childhood name, as I suffered very badly with growing pains in my knees back then!

My dog is expecting breakfast earlier and earlier. First it was 8, then 6, it's currently 4 (I HAVE to give him a few biscuits or he doesn't stop pacing around/driving me nuts) and today it was 3am. Said a firm nope to that one and shut him away in another room! I made a rod for my own back giving in the first few times.

3am is very early Springarising! For us, 5.30 am is ideal, 5am will be my limit, BUT we have been having trouble keeping weight on The Peril so she has been having small additional feeds, which means she's out of her usual routine with regards to toileting, so I'm prepared to allow her some leeway. 🐾😍❤️

Here's 2 year old Peril and 12 and a half year old Jake after today's walk, 6 miles for Jake, 17 for The Peril. Still smiling, still wagging 🐾🐾❤️

We are up because a pair of owls are holding a hooting competition, one of them was sat on our chimney pot so the noise was echoing around the house. I have politely moved him/her on by opening the front door and turning on the security light. I'd prefer they used elsewhere to conduct their early morning mating calls. I am very surprised that there's anything left for them to eat locally given the amount of headless vole corpses the local cat population leave lying around!
Ace will probably be up soon so, Good Morning Lev and the clan 🐾🐾

Daisy started doing this so we became really strict and she now only gets fed after the alarm goes off. If we're awake earlier and happy to feed her earlier then we just set an alarm a few minutes ahead of time, but she doesn't get fed until after the alarm so she knows there's no point trying before then!
