Why aren't Magic Bits dressage legal?

My horse LOVES her Magic bit! She doesn't stick out her tongue with it, chomps lovely on it with a soft contact and I have breaks out on fast hacks as nothing is pressing on her tongue annoying her. Then I found out it wasn't BD legal and can't really understand why as according to various websites out there, it's a really mild bit! I would have thought a hanging cheek snaffle would have been more "severe" than a loose ring bar with a tiny port too alleviate tongue pressure?

I think it is the port that makes it non compliant with BD. I used to hack my medium level dressage horse out in one and I quite agree with you about having brakes when hacking.

It's not as if it's a huge port that is working on the roof of the mouth though, it's just to stop "tongue hurt". Surely using a joined snaffle or a bit which hurts or annoys the horse contradicts what BD is about! My horse HATES mullens, normal, snaffles but will tolerate a KK but only just (French links- forget it!) so there is very little options out there for horses with fat tongues.

Have you tried the simple myler snaffle that's what I have found best with big tongues.
