Why ask for help then ignore it?!

(this is mostly just a rant as OH is not interested)

Friend knows nothing about dogs, never had one before but girlfriend was adamant she wanted one. They asked for some help and advice, gave me a list of traits they were interested in (like small, none shedding etc) so spent a while doing some research on local breeders etc. They've just gone and bought a spangle cross collie puppy....from the first advert girlfriend saw on Facebook!

They don't have the experience or lifestyle to take on or keep entertained such an active mix. I love them both dearly but they are exactly the type to think it's cute now, do no training and get rid at 6 month's because it's too hyperactive, has an accident in the house and chewed something.

I'll not say anything to them (but have suggested the puppy group we took Tia to) but just needed to rant. I'm fully aware I'm not an expert but I know enough to know I would struggle with that mix never mind a first time owner. Just frustrated that they asked for help then ignored me.....their funeral though I suppose.

You did your best, I absolutely hate impulse purchasing when it comes to animals.

Me too, I know Tia was a slight impulse as we weren't looking before the pregnancy but I did me research on the two breeds, met mum and dad and her litter a fair few times (the joy of the 'accident' being a friends...lots of puppy time!) and we did some soul searching about how much time/space and how active we were before we got her.

I've told OH if/when they decide to get rid (which is exactly what they did with the rabbit they had) I am not having it!

Turns out the puppy isn't the cross she told us about.....it's a cocker from a puppy farm :( poor thing but it's their mistake to make. Have pointed them in the direction of a good vet and puppy class.
