Why be rude when viewing horses?

Why oh why is it necessary to be rude and downright nasty when you have been invited to my home to view my horse.

Have been very gently thinking about selling one of the youngsters. A friend of a friend of a friend was interested so all good. I tell her all about him on the phone, he is only just broken and is still green. Also that he is still nervous of rider mounting and is a very fwd going ride. All fine with her apparently she is looking for a top quality youngster (which he is) and needs something active and keen (which he also is)

She turns up and all is going well up to the point I get on where he decides that today is the perfect day to have a little hump and buck. Not done that before but the little devil knows when to play up doesn't he!

So now I and my friend are liars because we said he didn't rear or buck. Woman is now speading this around in the circles they both move. And also before she left she wiped off some crib ox on to my friend when she thought they were trying to shake hands.

Just because horse isn't perfect does not give you the right to be horrible! If he was perfect you wouldn't be able to afford him :P
 
Dont get downhearted ! She obviously just has little knowledge of how youngsters can be. Look at this way - he has saved himself from being bought by her ;) you wouldnt want him in unsympathetic hands who wouldnt understand this or see his potential xxxx
 
Sounds like your wee beastie decided he would rather stay at home with you for a while longer rather than go off with someone less desirable! Clever pony!
 
I think it is unforgivable to be rude about someones horse. We have viewed some real mingers over the years but have never ever been anything but kind about them. I have tried to find a "nice reason" for not wanting them. I would be upset if someone was rude about any of mine.
Ignore them. If they are that rude other people will know what they are like and take no notice of anything they say anyway. At least your horse had a lucky escape from such an unforgiving home.:)
 
tbh, I can see the woman's point of view and would be rather pee'd off to turn up to see a horse who bucked when the rider got on if it hadn't been mentioned on the phone.

I have been to see and ride many horses and the 'he's never done that before!' line is trotted out a lot more than you'd think in the horsey world.

Not saying you lied or misled her, but I can see why she would think that way and be angry about the wasted trip.
 
Yes she has every right to be disappointed but not downright rude or to maliciously spread rumours that I am a liar. It's not like I'm a dealer or that I realy need to sell this one I just thought they might both be suitable for one another. But hey ho I'll keep loving the little monkey until he starts being a good boy at least!
 
When I was trying to sell Wills I had a women who was so rude about him that I refused to let her ride. I was very polite about it and said that I was looking for a very special home for him and as she had already insulted his appearance and way of going I would not be seeling him to her as it was not the home I wanted for him so rather than waste everyone's time it would be best if she look elsewhere for her next RC champion....she spent the next week e-mailing me abuse every day and scribbling abuse on my adverts at the local tack shop :( :mad:

JoG that's just dreadful. Why on earth would you waste your time doing something so nasty? Some people must have nothing better to do.

I went to look at a cob mare on saturday the woman was damm right rude
Needless to say I move on without horse
 
Least she had time to be rude - best I've seen was woman who walked round the corner to where horse was tied up, went 'too small. Thanks, bye' and left lol. It's not like the height, build and pictures weren't clear from the advert or the conversations that had happened pre viewing. I suppose at least she couldn't be accused of being a time waster - you blinked and missed her ;)
 
Your youngster has had a lucky escape!! Honestly what do people expect?? I expect a horse that young and green to have the odd wobbly - TBH I'd worry more if they didn't, as it shows they can't think for themselves!!
Someone out there is going to look beyond the less than perfect bits and get a cracking horse and these viewers will be kicking themselves!
 
Sounds like your horse saw that **** coming!!

Dont worry, Im sure if she is as rude as that, others will know what shes like and be inclined to give you and your horse the benefit of the doubt. Lucky escape for you-Im sure you wouldnt want someone like that buying your horse anyway ;)
