when a bit of scrubby, old, tough gorse goes down a treat?

Took the pony for a walk on the forest today. I think she went "back to her roots".

She couldn't get enough of the gorse (not even the new shoots bit which I know they eat) but the gnarled old stuff. It was funny watching her carefully get a clump in her teeth and transfer it into her mouth for chewing up without getting her lips hurt.

Gave us a look as if to say "what you looking at, this here is good eating":D

mine love gorse, especially the flowers, also the purple flower heads off thistles. Makes you wonder doesn't it, my hay man gave me a few bales of coarse hay this year and my lot refused to eat it but they'll pick bramble leaves in the field.

She ignored all the nice flowering, fresh green looking bits and went for the tough old bits.
The bits that if you accidently sit on you know all about it.:o

Also had a good nibble on some over grazed, parched, brown grass and a few sticks.
