Why can't I find a good riding helmet?

I've had a Caldene Lumos for longer than I should have done, and today I whacked it against a low-hanging branch, while cantering. Oops. Decided due to its age, multiple incidents of being dropped, and then an unfortunate encounter with said tree at a fair rate of knots (this is why you wear helmets, kids...), I should treat myself to a new one. But it appears that Caldene stopped making these circa 2017. And they were in such fun colours. Everything else is black or dark blue if you're lucky.

Why? Why do companies make a great product and then stop?

Ah its is annoying isn't it! Might be worth checking out ebay and preloved for a second hand one that's barely been used - I know it's not the best idea, buying a second hand hat, though some sellers are genuine and just have them sitting in a cupboard after a couple of lessons. Or try extensively Googling - some smaller tack shops might have old stock?

Champion does some different colours in skull caps - depending if your head will fit their shape, of course! If you have a small head, they do kids hats in pink and blue, they also have gold, pink, silver and rose gold in bigger sizes. They have silk cover that sit on so the colour is still seen at the front.

I had one of those too, and loved it. Since then I've had two Champion X-air skull caps, but have now swapped to a Uvex Exxential as I was finding the Champion too hot in the summer (three tiny holes does not make a hat vented!). I have a silver one, and there are several other colours too.
