I wasnt going to post this as i didnt want to be bitter but TBH ive been sat here and the more i think about it the more it upsets me. I have been to a local show today. Its not one i usually do but wanted to keep Inky interested so i went. A couple of friends off the farm also took there horses and they always do very well. usually red rosettes to them!! Well we got 4th in Best Condition, which i was very pleased with as there were some lovely horses in it. Then i did the open youngstock class. There were nine in it with some fabulous horses. I was walking around when i got pulled in FIRST!!! I was sooooo chuffed. The judge even took my number and asked that if i intent to breed him could she have one of his foals!!! She wanted to ring me next year to see where he was upto and keep updated!! She has judged miniature classes before and said none of them she had seen were a patch on him!! I was grinning from ear to ear. Now my vent is i always wish friends good luck and congratulate them on their placings even if we are in the same class. Now today ( and has happened alot recenlty ) i got not ONE good luck or well done, despite passing them waiting outside the ring. It realy upset me, i was so happy and i only had one person to give a huge grin to waiting outside the ring, and that was my Oh ( who incidentaly had come straight from work after finishing at 7am to come and watch and only went to bed after the show )
It seems that my friends only ask how ive done or say anything if they have come further up the line than me or ive come at the bottom end of the rosettes. Now i wasnt in their class today. Sorry for rambling on but why cant people just be happy for you when you win??? Does anyone else find that when it comes to competing their friends are the same or is it just mine???

Well a bl**dy big well done from us -

Inky is a star and they are obviously just jealous,

what a miserable bunch of peeps, extra carrot for inky tonight!

I know exactly what you mean and sadly this seems to be quite common in the horse world - I dont know why

All I can suggest is that you dont let it spoil your day or your pleasure in your success. Well done Inky !
PS put me on the foal list, although I will have to sneak it past OH...

First of all ‘WELL DONE’ from me!

I know how you feel, I use to get this at my last yard. It was almost like they were jealous but yet there horses were fantastic, I just didn’t get it either. Try not to worry about it, the important people (i.e. your OH) are proud of you and Inky!

Well a HUGE well done from us. Is Inky the poneo in your sig? Cos if so he is GORGEOUS. Ignore them.. its just bitterness and jealousy. Some people I know seem rather pleased that Gen is having some real problems atm and instead of winning is doing very badly. Far as I am concerned they are obviously NOT real friends.

Good Luck with the future.

A HUGE Well Done to you. Its a common fact that the horse world is full of bitches, Why is it people always try & steal your thunder?
A very well known Olympic medallist told me years ago Never ever wish any one 'Good Luck' But always be prepared to say 'Well Done' It seems to protect you in some odd fashion. Try it

first of all WELL DONE

secondly, i think you are seeing alot of the green eyed monster at work, i don't know what it is but showing, i am sorry to say seems to be the bitchiest equestrian sport going. i mean, for god's sake during a show class you are asking for that one person's opnion of your animal on that day!! i have stood 1st in a hunter pony class, and last in a driving pony class - same pony, same judge - different day (he did say to me she was a hunter to him and not a driver!!!) but that was fine - his decision, but there was no other class to put her in as i was late!!

another thing - please do not take this the wrong way - is that alot of people feel hard done by if they get beaten by a minature, it gives them some sort of inferiority complex!! my advice is to ignore them, do your own thing, you have a cracking little horse there enjoy him and don't let it spoil your day!

WTG Inky - well I am sooooooooooo pleased for you, but TBH not surprised as Inky is a megastar

As for your friends not being pleased for you - don't sound like proper friends to me.

Well done! I am afraid that I find this too...people are only interested in their own success and talking about themselves...they are not interested in your successes sadly. Try not to let it get you down...you have done brilliantly and both you and your OH know that and that is all that matters really. I have experienced the same on many occasions...people very interested in discussing my horses previous issues and problems but when he has come good through hard work and perserverence they are not interested or even say it was down to luck!!!!!

Very well done! Them not congratulating you doesn't make them winners - so enjoy your success. I never realised how bitchy the horsey world could be - my daughter's 'friend' hasn't said one nice thing about her new horse yet, plenty of criticism though. It's just the ol' green eyed monster rearing its ugly head. Well done again!

sadly lots of people like that, when I do badly jumping or showing, some people love to ask how I got on! when they already know lol, but when I have had a good day, never get asked lol!!

Green eyed monster, its very sad that people are like this, I am always pleased for someone to win, if indeed like in your case it is well deserved, you have put the time in preparing inky for the ring, it shows out a mile, so stuff them!!!

Took JC to his first show today, he was an absolute star! so well behaved, lovely trot up and stood still bless him for ages in both classes!! Sadly judge hated minis (6 of us in each class unplaced including most fab shettie stallion) but valuable experienced gained and now friends with the ice cream man who gave him an ice cream!!! (breeders would be horrified!!)!!

Well done INKY!! YOU RAWWWWK!

Its not just in the horsey world, its everywhere. People want to see you get on, but not above them! Well done to Inky and to you for keeping your posture. You are a winner and the only important comments today were from the judge and your OH. xx

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I didnt go expecting anything today, like i said it served a purpose in keeping Inky interested but the fact he won really made my day. It was just dampned by the fact noone could even be bothered to say good luck or well done despite my friends lorry being parked up next to mine!!! I always knew the "showing" world could have its bitchiness but never thought this would extend to my friends. I am always pleased for them if they get placed regardless of whether its above me!!!

P.S marsden - well done with JC, unfortunatley i always look at judges views on miniatures like marmite....... they either love em or hate em!!! The fact is he was good so thats the first hurdle over with!!

TBH it sounds like jealousy. And it'd be hard NOT to be jealous of Inky!! (he's fab... I'm determined to have one myself!)

Big BIg well done!

Well done Inky that is amazing! The most important question will he be making any babies?
To the question- jealousy, it's pathetic but at least you know how well you have done.

Yes well done you! I think it is just peoples insecuritys and jealousy, one of my friends hardley spoke to me for a year as we had a lesson together once and her horse didnt go terribly well, and mine did... she is fine again now, but it is quite hurtfull.

Definitely green eyed monster!! Very sad and childish if you ask me...
I always clap the whole class as they come out at whatever show I'm at whether I know anyone or not..
Unfortunately showing is like that though. Its someone's opinion of your horse that determines its place and that will always cause contovercy (sp?).
If your 'friends' don't particularly rate mini's then they will always feel he's overplaced. Their problem, not yours.
Horrible though isn't it cos it puts a bit of a damper on things...

Well done Inky! Definitely jealousy, not only does he win classes but he is SO cute! Its a shame they act like this but try not to let it spoil your happiness when you win. You will always get loads of congrats when you post on here. Although it is tempting to give them a taste of their own medicine I would make sure you continue to congratulate them when they win, and smile charmingly when you beat them, which will probably be frequently.
