Mines the same - helps me out when I poo pick lol ;-) does nothing for her breath, I do tell her off but it does nothing to stop her she just sneaks back when she thinks that I am not looking!
Mine too!! They steal it out of the wheelbarrow when I am mucking out. I tell them off but they sneak behind my back!! I have three and am not best pleased when I have to sweep up after them.
My two are the same but they're indiscriminate - any poo will do (except their own thankfully) its just horse stuff is more readily available! One in particular goes round the stable as though she's inspecting my mucking out! I can offer no advice, nothing has worked - its just too delicious!
Both our 10 month old Golden Retriever and two year old Springer bitches eat horse droppings, which is bad enough, but what really is disgusting is when they raid the cat litter tray........
Mentioned it to our vet who merely replied "Oh yes, they love it, don't they!".
Now before anyone mentions perhaps I should clear the litter tray more often, I would point out that there are two trays, one in the utility room and one upstairs in a spare room (which we refer to as "the cat room"). Whenever I spot a "deposit", I clean the tray, but there are always occasions when the dogs beat me to it, no matter how careful I am. I can't begin to describe the smelly breath..............!
Yes, it really is pretty gross, particularly when you are unaware of what they've been up to and slobber all over you.............UGH!!!!! Like I said, my vet said it's normal!
mine are every bit as bad, the most effective remedy was to carry a small plastic bottle with some gravel in and when the dogs started to tuck in to bellow 'leave' and then throw the bottle to land near them - it worked well but didnt stop them sneaking off to have a munch when I wasnt looking LOL
It's probably something instinctive. Wild dogs usually go for the stomach contents first when they hunt something. Gross, but true. It's the reason they love green tripe so much. The New Forest Hounds love eating horse poo, so much so that the Huntsman told me once that he was thinking of trying it too as it is so appealing to the Hounds!!
