Why do horses have rugs on when owners are in t-shirts?

I currently have three Shetland ponies in no fill combo turnouts....
I am aware that many of you would have a fit over that if you were to pass my field and at one point I would have too however I have an extremely midgey field and two of them have sweet itch and one is itchy. The rugs fit better than any fly rugs I have found and so that is what they are wearing. They don't ever overheat in them...rather they always feel cool underneath.

All horses are different. Both my horses are out 24/7. One of mine is in a 200 weight rug at night and is comfortable in the morning she is then unrugged during the day unless it is raining and then she will have a no fill waterproof on. Until last week she was in a 100 weight overnight but as she was shivering in the mornings and losing weight rapidly I upped the overnight weight. The other is totally unrugged unless it is raining and she will have a no fill waterproof on. They also have different feeds, the first horse is fed twice a day and gets additional linseed, whilst the other get fed once a day but gets a bucket of hay when the other horse is fed, so she doesn't feel left out.

If I clothed my horses according to how cold I thought is was they would be in about 10 rugs they are not they are naked apart from I need them clean and dry to ride live out 4/7 s no stabling to dry them off. The youngster has a rug on tonight as she is dressage in the morning and it looked like rain. It will be off again tomorrow. Outside temperature was 19 degrees I was wearing a vest teashirt fleece and waterproof so you see you cannot judge how warm the horse needs to be by how warm the person is

I think you need to treat horses as individuals. Some horse may feel the cold more than others.

I clipped my pony today and he has a chaser clip and I chatted with YO and we have agreed the best thing for him is to remain naked for the time being. He is in at night and out during the day and he is a native pony over heats very easily and is not underweight, his stable is cosy and he has plenty of hay to eat.

My insurers have just rejected my claim today.

I am sueing my YO for putting the 200g fill premier unicorn sheet on when I specifically asked for the 210g fill with magnetodes at 4.15pm.

I am on full livery. I deserve better.

Can anyone please tell me your experiences and which route you went down. Daddy's solicitors or mummys?

Mine did something similar last year. I just hid her repeatedly over the head with a plastic shovel until she got the gist.

Which make shovel? There are several on the yard. I dare not touch any of them in case of giving my horse a disease.

If that happens I may sue the shove owner.

I do not own a shovel. Oh gosh, such a quandary. Should I buy one ay HOYS?

You must buy a shovel at HOYS, it must be pink with bling and you will really need a wheelbarrow to match.

My pony only wore her rug one day last year and that's only because it was heavy sleet. She is a good doer and is a Welsh cob breed who turns into a wooly mamouth in the winter. Other horses at my yard are pretty much rugged all year round - that's their choice and I respect that. If I see a horse with a rug on I don't really bat an eyelid because it could be wearing one for a variety of reasons.
