It's finally thawed enough to ride out on the roads, so my OH said he would accompany me on foot for a hack as he fancied a walk too. So off we went up the road, me on horse, him on foot. Horse was fine until... he spotted 2 walkers on the ROAD with a PINK carrier bag!!!! Horse decided to spin and run for home, I of course wouldn't let him, he had a hissy fit in the middle of the road while 2 cars tried to drive past all to the amusement of the walkers. Eventually OH managed to cajole him past the walkers. How embarrassing.
On return to the yard OH held horse while I took off his saddle, chucked his turnout on and took off his bridle, horse pulled away with reins still round his neck, OH slipped on ice trying to catch him, horse took off towards his field with new Stubben bridle hanging round his knees.
You can guess what happened to the bridle. OH is furious with the 'ridiculous animal' and spent next half hour picking bits of beautiful german leatherwork out of the snow. I am horrified and embarrassed. Horse subjected to half an hour of ground work (I would have lunged as well but too icy) and is now very sorry.
And this is supposed to be fun???? I'm just glad noone had a video camera.
