Why do my stirrups feel odd?

When I ride, my right stirrup always feels longer than my left stirrup. They are on the same holes and they are the same leathers.

I do lean to the right slightly too.

Why might they feel odd when their not?

Leather might have stretched?

Although I always think my are uneven as one of my knees is a lot "tighter" than the other.

I would go for the leather being stretched.

Hmmm well many people do have slightly odd legs! As you lean to the left that may have caused the leather on the right to stretch more? Usually it's the left leather that stretches, hence swapping them regularly....

Take them off saddle and hang them against each other to see if they are level.

If not you may have one leg shorter than other!

the leather can stretch, which may be that you put more weight in your right stirrup. regularly swap you leathers over to even it out. it usually the left one that stretches as its the side you get on.

I can't answer your question, I'm afraid, but I will read the replies with interest as I have a similar problem, even though I mount from a stirrup level block and swap my leathers regularly. So if it's any comfort, you are not alone. In fact I am taking my saddle for my lesson tomorrow on a mechanical horse to see if we can sort it out.
Hope you manage to solve your problem.

I feel sure that we are all crooked. Watch the person in front of you walking down the road, lots of them carry shoulder bags. When you mount check your seat, does it come from your hip? I know I sit out to the right and feel stronger on the left rein. Annoying isn't it.

I had this! I actually had to ride with my left stirrup a hole longer than the right to make it seem 'level'. Sure enough, when I saw the osteopath, my pelvis and lower back were out of whack, to the point that I was 'leading ' with my left hip as I walked. All manipulated back into place and my position has improved, plus I no longer collapse to the left either.
