its a not very nice comment!! I have put plenty of videos of goggles on you tube to show you his progress but when you get a comment like this one today it dose make you wonder about how much people should say if they no nothing about the horse in question!! i no this is a pointless post but just needed to get it off my chest!! Oh and there will be a song and gogs update coming after this!

Ignore it. I like watching your vids of goggles - he is such a character

I'm not sure there are many people that would or perhaps I should say 'could' take him round a course like that back in his earlier days - he was certainly a handful. You have done a great job with him.

It is worth bearing in mind that the person who commented is in the USA and the standards for Hunter classes are really pointed more towards show hunters, so I can see their point. Whilst your horse is lovely and clearly an enthusiastic performer there was altogether too much 'mobility' in the saddle for this to fit an American idea of Hunter showing.

Don't worry about it - it is just a different perception.

Yeah but the comment about her "tearing his mouth apart" is not just a different perception, its extremely rude!

Although he was clearly wanting to take off with you into some of the jumps, I saw no sawing of his mouth! I think that an independent seat is something that develops over time and you will not develop one unless you get out there and ride!

Dont let the comments p*ss you off..

There were some dreadful comments to a German lady re: her beautiful grey mare jumping wonderfully - they ALL came from US members who obviously do hunter riding and I had to comment as they were SO vicious (the horse is being held in, it is fighting, you need to release more over the jump etc) - so just tell the poster that you ride properly and she can keep her hunter riding

Yeah as people have said its usually the USA peeps who have the odd issue about our way. ie. there is a big difference between our hunters and theirs. And also if you look at their hunter classes, they ride round with the horses heads poking right out (almost like western), in fact Ive seen this in MOST ridden showing classes, they seem to prefer the relaxed look more than being on a contact etc. For a very quick example, see this vid (which is hunter/jumper but you can see the horses way of going is totally different from ours!): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yWW3W0X-DY8

Ive had 2 dumb comments (not nasty, but totally unfounded!) on one of my You Tube videos, you simply delete them!

How rude, especially as they don't know the horse. When I've seen vids/photos of you riding Goggles I've always thought how well you ride him. These people are probably the sort who have just learnt how to trot on schoolmasters and think they are experts .......I knew one of those at one of my old yards and a right pain she was too lol

I had a horse die last year when I'd only owned her for 6 hours - so on top of the costs associated, the insurance didn't pay up.
I advertised for another and said "very short of funds due to sad loss of new young horse" and got a response from someone suggesting I get a rocking horse because that would be cheap. Some people just like to make your life a misery, and others are just completely oblivious. Ignore them, don't lower yourself to their level.

I can't view the video at work but I would be inclined to post a reply explaining in "dolly dimple" language what a working hunter is.

Honestly - bloomin' numpties. Why do they comment if they don't know what they're talking about!

I put some videos of myself and my horse on youtube, merely to be able to send the links to my trainer and some friends. The amount of abuse I got from "hunter/jumpers" was amazing, so many comments on matters that dont relate to SJ at all!
I dont want to fricking release my horse you muppets!
Sounds stupid but really ate away at me until a sweet little kid wrote back in defence of me!

I got a very critical comment last week from the US on one of my YouTube clips (including remarks on releasing my horse). It really irritated me, as I didn't appreciate the comments, particularly as I'd stated in the clip that the horse had only been with me for a few days and was having its first lesson (and was being a total fruitcake over each jump!).

Again, I'd only put the vid up so friends could view it, not for some jumped up twit in America to tell me how to ride!

Unfortunately it is human nature sometimes to be critical, especially if you put youself up for these things. I know my own faults so I wouldn't want everyone else picking holes in my riding hence I don't put it on the www.

Well your round got better and better as it went on! Bunch of prats commenting with nothing better to do - like to see them try!!

I thought you rode jolly well, you sat really still & jumped a lovely clear, I don't know anything at all about hunters or showing, but it all looked good to me. I had a fat old trout standing at the side of the ring the other week when I was upset that I'd been eliminated telling everyone that "She's had loads of lessons & still can't jump it round" OMG!! where do these people get off, obviously they must be so perfect themselves that they feel they can criticise everyone else. Just ignore someone who is clearly uneducated, whereas you are not!!

I have to say the comments were rude, but have you thought about trying the american way of training, as it would probably really help your horse. I am not american but have trained that way as well as english. It is all about the horse staying relaxed and listening to the lightest of aids which is what we all strive to get with our horses. Please don`t take this as critism because you possibly havn`t come accross this way of training. Because it is normal in USA they would not like our way.

I would love to see them train a horse like Gogs or Jerry then!

To the OP - you ride him really well, and you can see him improving throughout the round. He is a smashing horse

I was trained to SJ 'American', by which I don't mean letting the horse wander along, semi-conscious, on the forehand, with it's nose poking & bored to tears. That's what I see with most vid's of US hunter style, I also see very insecure and ridiculous, over stylised riders, who couldn't ride a horse like this if someone super glued them to the saddle.
I would completely ingore the comments on YT, such a nasty little bunch of girls who comment on there when it's clear they haven't a clue.

He settled down lovely towards the end, he's stunning....Why have I always missed your posts?!

And whoever it was that mentioned about the 'American way' is all about keeping the horse relaxed and listening to the lightest of aids.....Sounds just like our way to me? Or am I being ignorant?.....

ARGH that always drives me mad, youtube is terrible for the critical horsey type, especially the ones who don't have any videos of themselves riding....
there are some people who get totally ripped apart on that site, by silly little know-it-alls

i thought your video was really nice =)
