im so fed up saw horse that i really liked on saturday and said i wanted her agreed price and said i would come over to meet her daughter on wednesday as she wanted me to meet her as it was her horse texted lady today to find out what rug size and what vet she used so i could arrange vetting she rang me back later and said she had sold her to someone else ahhhhh god i am so xxx off back to the horse hunt only my heart isnt in it

That's terrible, don't give up maybe this was fates way of saying the horse wasn't the right one for you. Keep looking and i'm sure you'll find the right horse.

Maybe they were worried about the vetting, and some numpty came along and said they would take it without vetting. See it as a lucky escape as they clearly weren't very genuine people.

similar thing happened to me when i was looking, i arranged the vetting and then had to change it to 2weeks later as i got thrown off and got a hairline fracture in 2 ribs. i called her to let her know and then she said she is sending her to a dealer instead (she didnt know the original date of the vetting) and then it turned otu she had a tendon injury a couple of years presvious and it was playing up, as a result she wouldve failed flexion test, so i would suggest that she knew she wouldnt pass the vetting and these other people said they would buy her without having her vetted

I agree with the others, I think you have had a lucky escape, so many people out there are just not genuine. See my other thread for my experience. Keep looking, don't lose heart your horse is out there somewhere waiting for you.

Well, probably a lucky escape I reckon.

A friend of mine recently agreed a price at which to buy a horse subject to vet. I took it to be vetted for her, including xrays, so not a cheap exercise. She texted the owner to say it had passed, and he rang her back and demanded another £1000 on top of what had been agreed.

After a lot of wrangling she didn't buy the horse.

yeah your all right but you get so disheartened its so hard work looking and then when you think youve found it and this happens you lose faith

Had a similarish thing happen. Saw a horse for my novice husband and had it vetted which he failed miserabley. Basically my vet said he was only worth meat money. Owner agreed to reduced price after speaking to another girl on the yard who I knew from a previous yard who vouched for us. Just before I was about to leave to pick up the horse I got a call from the girl to say don't bother they had sold him to some-one else for much more money! Trouble is I think the poor horse had been buted up and sent to Reading horse sales.

This will always go on in the horseworld unfortunately as not every seller is genuine. There are genuine people out there though who do want the best for their horse and have good old fashioned morals.

Aargh sorry I am one of those buyers who get in there because I do my own vettings on the day I go to view the horse. This is always what clinches it for me and I know that many horses I have bought have had others interested and with their vet booked to come and check the horse, but the sellers will sell to me as I have the money there in my hand and will take the horse then and there if I like it.

, dare I say, you snooze - you lose ... or would that be mean. Yes that would be mean and I'm not suggesting you shouldn't have a vet come and check the horse if you are not an experienced buyer. Best of luck! Something else will be just around the corner.

I don't consider a horse sold unless I have the money in my hot little hands. I've had buyers, who'd already been out and "luuuuved" the horse, not show up to buy her...and this after telling prospective buyers "she's sold".

Never again. First one with the money gets the horse.

You were very sensible to insist on a vetting and there is no way to get these done (unless you are a vet yourself) without having to wait for a bit. If the seller was really serious they could have asked you for a deposit to hold the horse until the vetting, so it seems to me that they just found someone they could dump the horse on without the vetting...lucky escape for you!
