Me, too and I'm a teacher! It's very curious how students appear to spell more correctly when using a foreign language: possibly this is due to having it drummed into them all the time? I am frequently appalled (Appalled of Tunbridge Wells) at the poor spelling. If someone is dyslexic, obviously they cannot be expected to spell perfectly. However, she is coherent enough to be corrected by a spell check.

The issue, if I dare speak for some of us, appears to be that she persists in posting really silly things when she has already posted the same thing. It's my opinion that she does enjoy the attention. It is common to every other forum of which I am part (cor, check the grammar!) that younger members get a beating for posting really ridiculous things and therefore the more mature teens get treated suspiciously. *Hurriedly checks post for errors*.

I joined here in the hopes of finding more mature people i.e. some over the age of 12 . If she feels uncomfortable, there are more child-friendly forums out there.

I say all this with the greatest respect to everyone here but.....

I know what it feels like to be on the other side of this welcoming forum. I used to get great advice on here, but since I had to change my user name my posts have either been ignored or met with scarcasm!!!

I do not know the poster that has started all of this or indeed the shop she talks about, but I have read and reread her post and other than the fact she says she does not like the idea of 2nd hand things, what exactly is her crime?

I have not read her other posts as I have kept away recently due to feeling made unwelcome, so I can only comment on this one.

I hope she is not a troll, as I will now feel even more stupid, but I do feel sometimes this community, that I have been a member of for nearly 3 years ( yes I know my profile does not say this, due to having to changed my user name), is really harsh, when is used to be sooo tolerent and kind.

Everyone who uses a forum should be capable of being coherent, spell to a decent standard and be able to form a sentence/paragraph/essay. I say this because anyone using a forum should be over 14 at the very least, and therefore will have had an education. It is only polite to write things in a coherent way, for those that will be reading. Coherent posts lead to coherent replies. Everyone has access to a spellcheck facility, and it is only pure laziness that stops people from using one.

I really don't care if she is a troll or not. I have not been one to 'attack' either. I just think she is probably a person who thrives on the attention given to her. Her post are inconsistent and (regardless of what anyone says!) poorly spelt. I too have poor spelling, but you can clearly see what I mean and don't need to google everything for slang terms like I have to with her posts.

I just see posts like hers as an unaviodable part of having an open forum. There will always be people craving attention, and there will always be people wanting to give advise. I wouldnt say that that is 'attacking' - most of it is just common sense (like, school your horse / dont put a pelham in its mouth if the curb makes it bleed / 2nd hand stuff is okay - call it vintage or preloved and you are instantly cooler than the people head to toe in whittaker / dont jump your arthritic pony every day / do the back of your trailer up when towing your horse e.t.c)!

I am over here (Belgium) and trying to work and get by in French and generally suceeding with my GCSE level and total immersion (but it isn't easy). However, if I didn't have good English - particularly vocabulary, I wouldn't stand a chance.

Over here, kids of 14 usually have a good grasp of two languages and are taking on a third. It is not good enough to accept poor language skills from somebody over the age of 10 unless there is an underlying problem.

English is a beautiful langauge - txt speak is not.

Us English are utterly complacent about languages. Feel all grumpy now - need a glass of vino and a shower

Très bien dit! I feel we are the worst in the world concerning learning a new language and are dreadfully complacent. I'm forever moaning about how students can't be expected to learn a new language when they don't understand the mechanics of their own, or worse, are lazy about using it properly.

110% agree with this, i know kids spelling day = daii, and adding letters and stuff all over the place! WHY it doesnt shorten the word, bugs the living daylights out of me!!!

Having read most of her posts I think she is a very enthusiastic, ambitious rider who wants us to say 'wow, you're doing so well' etc but unfortunately the videos and posts tend to have the opposite effect. Maybe the support/enthusiasm isn't shared at home or by her friends so it is directed onto here. She does seem rather naive and maybe she types quicker than she thinks but generally she is harmless and it is a shame she leaves herself so open to critisism.
So, if you read this BSJAShowjumper123, there is some good advice on this forum, if you ask for it, but then try not to post vids of you obviously ignoring it all as it will get peoples backs up and this is when a thread that should have 10 - 15 replies will shoot up to 50! most of which will be shooting you down. (Sorry, mum's hat on)

I can't be bothered to read posts with poor spelling or grammar. FWIW I don't believe that dyslexia can be blamed for all poor spelling, one of my school friends was/is dyslexic, she is now a senior partner in a law firm and a very successful (and scarey) lawyer!

I do dip in and browse if the post has huge replies, that I am afraid is just morbid curiousity.
