I will never understand it.
They are good doers, never have bald manes or tails, and usually sweet tempered.
They are sure footed and strong and give their rider a nice bouncy energetic ride.
I can understand why riding schools often have them as they are fantasic for novices and competent riders, a cob will rise to any challenge, either look after a nervous rider to give a gutsy rider a real run for their money
Without the fussy nonsense of a blood horse so tiresome Warmbloods!

Your thoughts?

DD:D

I know I'm often a bit reticent about my views, but I really feel I should state my opinion just once.

I will never understand why people want to own cobs.
They are fat, lazy, hairier than Bigfoot, and usually bad tempered.
Their paces are so stilted, that they look as though they've had their legs tied together, which gives the rider a nasty jolty ride.
I suppose I can understand riding schools having them, for the scaredy novices, but once you can rise to the trot, surely you'd buy a decent blood horse, or at least a Warmblood?

Complete and utter novicey muppet me. I need my cob to save me when I do this :o

See a lesser horse would have fallen on its swede!!

a lesser horse would have deposited me and the bottom of the fence for being so daft...

a lesser horse would have knocked the fence down...

a lesser horse would have fallen over or bucked me off on landing...

J would never ever be so rude :D

That's because J is a PERFECT COB!!

I have an Irish cob and a Welsh cob, both are awesome and give their all and I'm a cob lover through and through :D
I've also just bought a 3/4 TB, 1/4 cob who is an amazing little horse, he's changed me, but then that 1/4 cob has definitely come out in his charachter, physically he's a TB with a touch of cob class ;)

Easy tiger  Yes natives are nice too, not just trying to appease you here but I do love natives, and without sounding like a brown noser I do actually love highlands I have realised :D
Now do you like my reply.... ;):D

Yes, now it's perfectly satisfactory :p :D

God who on earth would want a cob... fat, lazy, useless horses. Much better to get a thoroughbred - now that's a proper horse, beautiful, athletic and majestic!

Think we need some more photographic evidence, that's photographic, not pornographic!

Cobs are too wide for me. My beloved Highland Pony is too wide for me. I have hip problems and find it much easier to ride a narrower horse. It is Kippen's personality that has kept him in my life and not his suitability as a riding horse for me.

This photo is from 2004. Have since discovered Ebay and now dress better. New helmet too.
