Why do so many people assume that only they can give a horse a good home?

I'm probably guilty of thinking no one could give a better home to my brown horse....or maybe a better choice of words is no one WOULD.

He's difficult, very talented, lots of health problems that have left him unrideable for a few years but he's also very difficult to have as a companion as he is so high maintenance.

He's the sort of horse that needs a competant and confident rider...but that sort of rider USUALLY wants a horse who will work for a living and possibly even compete...not many people who would go to the lengths he needs, to get nothing in return.

I'm fortunate that I could afford a second horse to give me all that stuff in return as Snip may never be rideable.
