Today, Storm had another viewing, and because M was at work, I was the one there to ride and answer the potential buyers questions. I've never even been to a viewing, let alone be the one acting on behalf of the seller, so I was a bit nervous, but he's a super pony and I wasn't particularly worried.
Everything was going really well until I got on him - then he turned into a little nightmare beast! He was prancing along, kept trying to change up a gait, climbed the small bank to one side of the arena, got the wrong leg almost every time we cantered, dropped his shoulders in, napping to the track if we were off it and napping away from it if we were on it. He's never acted like that before (typical seller phrase, I know, but it's true!) and I was appalled!
All I could think was 'oh god, she won't want him, I'll never be allowed to help at a viewing ever again!'. To my surprise, she got on him and rode him nicely (even though he was still being naughty), and wants to come back for a second viewing! I don't know what on earth got into him but maybe it felt a lot worse than it looked!
Why do they always feel the need to mess about the one time they need to behave?!
