Just intrigued as I do it for a sense of self achievement and pride in how far we have come together :D To me his BE record is irrelevant as he's not going to be sold but just intrigued what reasons others have for competing?

It keeps me riding - it doesn't matter wether it's a youngster I'm breaking or a horse I can compete at BE, BD or BSJA it gives me aims and goals and I have learnt from past experience I need a reason to ride - otherwise I tend to be lazy and not other !

I like rosettes and pretty shiny things. Like Jules it keeps me riding as I like to have something to work towards or focus on. That said going back to the rosettes I do rather like them, particularly big ones in nice colours.

similar to jules... i don't think that i would ride if i didn't compete- i am quite goal orientated and need something to work towards otherwise i just find myself pootling around and not doing very much.... i don't need to win or anything (although it is nice when i do ;))...but i like to see that i've made progress- its a way of testing myself :)

I bought Mick to hunt and did for the first 3 seasons. Even when I didn't compete during the summer I did endurance, working on fitness and timed all my rides and clocked mileage to work up to fitness for the following season.

Always need something to work to or whats the point. x

I just love going to shows with my horse. I love the buzz of it all. Waiting for my scores. I love a have a goal of not only to do well but to aim for a certain championship show if I can get him going well enough. Managed to qualify for pet plan finals at winter champs but now questionable due to fitness after injury then sole bruisings
Oh I love to see what judges have written and see if I can improve on it the next time. I love the photos , rosettes and if lucky enough sashes and trophys.

gives me goals. Dont think I'd bother riding much without competing to aim for. Not always aiming to win as can be just as happy with feeling we've achieved our next goal but i do like pretty ribbons and the feeling of achievement if we do win.

I compete in mounted games purely for the enjoyment of being part of a team.We are a fun team who compete to improve at our level and we always encourage each other. Also by competing it means I can see my friends from all over the country almost every weekend!

Showjumping is because it is fun and I don't have the facilities at home to put up a showjumping course! Would go xc schooling sometimes but dont really compete as I feel a bit silly on my 13.2hh, me being the age for horses :P

Something to aim for with them all, keeps me occupied and the sense of achievement. And I'm super competitive! I'd love to do it as a full time career eventually but not quite there yet!

To show off my lovely horse, who is a real prima donna and loves being the centre of attention - and to give us both as much variety in our work as possible and new goals to aim for in our training.

Same here. Although I do aim to win ;)
