Why do you own/ride horses?

when the madness is in the house, the kids are moaning, the bills need paying, the work needs doing.
i go to the field and i am able to forget all of that, and spend time with someone who wont ask me for a drink or a biscuit, or can we go on the trampoline.
i can spend time with someone who i love, who will ask for nothing, that is some thing in a busy life is quite hard to come by.

Because I am completely insane and love spending money

The time spent at the field is so rewarding even if all we have done is groom and turned back out again.

because i love having no money, having no social life, never having a lie in, driving a crap car when if i sold them i could drive a brand new skyline or similar !!!! oh and i love smelling of horses

I don't think I can put into words why... There is just something about a horse that makes me happier than anything....

They are just so calming and seem to be able to take all my stresses away.

Was it Winston Churchill that said "There's something about the outside of a horse that's good for the inside of a man."

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep was Churchill that said it, he also said "no hour of life is wasted that is spent in the saddle." Wasn't he a clever man - because riding is brilliant(most of the time

) and the relationship you have on the ground is even more special.

I own a horse because I simply cannot imagine what it would be like to not own one. I cant fathom how it would feel to not get up at stupid o'clock to look after Ellie, nor to be unable to just throw on a saddle and escape to the hills when the fancy takes me, nor to have her mane to cry into when life gets tough.

I don't think you can put into words why I have horses...

They are there when your world seems to be crashing down around you, they are there when your world picks up and you seem to be on cloud 9, they are there through all lifes ups and downs...They can't chose to be your best friend they just are. I can't imagine life without my beasties, and I miss them so much when I'm not at home...It's days like today that I really need them
