there is a horse at the same stables as me, who, when he has a feed or is given a treat, he licks the stable door or the breeze blocks in his stable?!?! Why does he do it? Is it a type of cribbing? Thanks xx

My horse does this too. He particularly likes to lick metal after he's had a treat or an apple. I don't think it's like cribbing, i.e. it's not a vice. I assumed it was something to do with the taste.

The jury's out as to whether you would consider this an aberrant equine behaviour (mild stereotypy) or not...in some animals (for example giraffes, wall licking is a stereotypy).
I suspect some horses just do it to extend the feeling of the taste on their taste buds...
I wouldn't worry either way.

No way ....Just a smart horse's thing,licking the door/breeze block after treat, then door/breeze block tastes good hence treat feels like it's lasted longer...Really smart horse
Mine has always done this and if I'm around my hand serves same purpose as door or breeze block

After licking a salt lick, mae rubs her nose on the gate and then licks it, it transfers the lick on her nose to the gate, so she can get every last drop.
