I will just get straight to the chase and say that I have decided I am ready for another horse mostly thanks to rides I have been offered and taken this year. So one year on I am fixed by two lovely horses and their even lovlier owners and am horse hunting for a nice sane RC type horse in close proximity to where I live in Gloucestershire. I flatly refuse to do the equivalent of a Take That tour of the UK when there is always one on the doorstep.

The plan is to take ages to find the perfect partner and so as the start of my search I enquire with a friend on her livery costs at her yard unfortunately she invited me to view it and I am in the muppet postion of having fallen in love with a yard but not having a horse yet. Dont ask me where it is because if I told anyone there wouldnt be a spare stable anymore.

What a nuisance I have had to stop looking at horse ads in case I just pick one up so I can put it in a lovely airy stable and polish it when it comes in from the field. :-(

Please tell me I am not the only pathetic idiot on here.

I'm pathetic too, don't worry. OH had to gently remind me yesterday that I don't HAVE to buy a horse right now, and I can in fact go and see as many as I want until I find the right one ...

I have done similar :) and I know how you feel, a yard is the next most important thing to the horse - so it can be really hard to miss out on something perfect! :( nothing else really to say but hope it works out and the right horse pops up right now!

As you have started looking for a horse I am assuming you have the funds to pay for it's upkeep so could u not take the livery space for a couple of months in the hope u find something? I know this sounds daft as very few of us can afford to do what probably feels like wasting money but as someone who knows how hard good yards are to come by it might be worth a punt for a couple of months?

Thank you both I have also had that gentle reminder luckily I have a small group of places I will keep him her if this doesnt all work out right.

And there is no hurry or panic is there plenty of time and all that rubbish.

Sorry just read yours Tilda and to be honest I was told that if the two vacant stables are gone she'll put another one up for me. I may be cheeky and leave it a few weeks and then offer to move my trailer in first and pay holding money on that we'll see.

I do have funds but will only use them when I have to I have a few options on grazing which would tied me over a while. Lets face it realistically it could take 6 months to find the right horse.

Yes you are right just know how impatient I've been when looking for a horse! At least as you say you have alternatives to tide you over in case the space has gone but at the end of the day I am a great believer in fate and it will all work out in the long run.

Good luck with your horse hunting :)
