Why does he hate the solo comb???

As the title says really. I have had Jed since he was 3 and he's 9 now and i have never pulled his main, only ever used the solo comb. But just recently he seems to have got really bad with it. I would understand if it hurt him but i make sure i put no pressure on his main what so ever. He just turns his head, puts his ears back and turns his arse on me. He has never kicked me or even tried but saturday afternoon he actually raised a leg at me.

So i pursevired (sp?) with him and everytime he turned his arse on me and his head away, i grabbed the lead rope yanked his head round and poked him in the bum with the solo comb. He aventually got the idea not to turn his bum on me so i left it there. Do you think its one of them things i have to do everyday to get him used to it?

Baring in mind he only probably has his main done twice a year.

Is it only recently? Do you have electric fencing, does he have a neck rug and does he share a field with others he play fights with?

I ask as Beau has in the past fre months gotten really funny about the top of his neck, his mane or his chest being touched or clipped. He wears a full neck rug, the field is electric fenced and they play fight. He has had a few bite marks to his neck/chest and ive seen him trying to get his head under the wire and getting zapped.

So Jed could just be ultra sensitive at the moment. I've found that giving the area a good scratch/rub seems to help as I think it takes away some of the sensitivity.

Actually he does have electric fencing and a full neck cover on hi t/o rug. Not sure about playing he doesnt have any bite marks on him but hi neck cover is pretty thick.

When i take his rug off i give him a good scratch and he loves it. Also when i put his saddle on he is recently very tigglish at the withers??? Maybe this is the reason then. Thanks for that i will have to try be a bit rougher so i dont tiggle him hehe.
