My poor ickle white greyhound is fated in some way I am sure, I have just had the most incredibly stressful 20 minutes on a dog walk :( I took them their normal route (through 16 acres of wooded nature reserve) and Islay took off after a deer so Flick followed her. They are always doing that, I never think anything of it now, as they always come back...

until today, when Islay came back and Flick didnt

Flick is not the brightest dog, and is very much a follower not a leader, so she would never go off of her own accord. After 5 minutes of calling and whistling it was clear she had managed to get lost and couldnt find her way back :(:(:(

I spent another quarter of an hour walking up and down the path in the woods, whistling and calling her, with the other two on leads. I had just given up and was about to go home, in case she had gone back that way, when she appeared from completely the other direction. She was panting and shaking so much I thought she might collapse, she is covered in mud and lame on two legs out of four, so goodness knows where she went :(:(:(:(

I have brought her home, given her a drink and a couple of teaspoons of honey for shock, and have tucked her up on a nice warm duvet :)

Honestly, dogs, who would have them :D You never know quite how much you love them until there is a chance they may be gone....

That sinking feeling when they don't come back is awful isn't it! Poor Flick, hope she and you aren't too traumatised. I prescribe a strong drink for you to steady your nerves.:p

Now that is a VERY good idea MM :D:D:D

I should be going to ride Bob now but instead I am sat watching Flick to make sure she is OK - never let it be said that I panic about my dogs you know.....:p

Tell me about it!! Thank goodness you got her back, almost in one piece. Hopefully she has given herself a scare and will stick closer to Mum next time. I lost Holly dog, our first rottie. We thought she had managed to escape from the garden and I spent a frantic 30 minutes looking for her. Sadly we found her in the wooded area of our garden, she had died, we suspect it was a heart attack. The feeling of panic though when you realise they are nowhere to be seen is just awful.

Cuddles to Flick from me and mine. J x

Oh J that is so sad, poor you and poor Holly :(:(:(

I think in this case the traumatised one is going to be OK.....

Well she died in her favourite place in the world, in the trees probably chasing rabbits. :)
Flick certainly looks relaxed, I think you're right and she'll probabaly pull through!! :D

Poor Flick and poor you! A lady from down in the village phoned me last night in a panic because she'd lost her yellow lab on a walk but she phoned soon after when she got home and the dog was waiting at the door for her  They do send you mad with worry sometimes but hopefully she's learnt her lesson x
