hi have a wonderful gelding who jumps for fun but always goes faultlessly until i put boots on him. i want to protect his legs but every time he has boots on he knocks fences down which is really frustrating does anyone else have this problem?

Try open fronted, although if he doesn't need them don't wear them. Some horses don't jump well in boots, my sisters included and now she Sj's bare legged all round. Not ideal for everyone - but he has very solid legs.

Put boots on mine as otherwise he really deosn't like it if he hits one.

As Stencilface put it yes i decided to take boots off my horse as (I couldn't prove it) but he just didn't seem happy jumping in them. I only ever had open fronted boots though but i just don't think he likes having them on. He does suffer with dermatitis (although only on his back legs) and generally doesn't like me putting boots on full stop (hates when i put travelling boots on).

As i do have concerns about him doing some injury to himself so I wear overreach boots SJ and will wear his tendon boots x-country aswell as he seems to put up with them - think the excitement takes over from the irritation!

I would certainly try jumping without or try some different style boots.
