This is going to sound really weird but when i'm out hacking my horse loves to stop at each gateway and look at the view! does anyone elses horse do this? any idea why? i think she just likes to enjoy the scenery and shes just nosy :p
just curious... :D

Mine does that too! He is so nosey! Maybe they see things that we don't and just want to have a look, or like you say maybe they are just enjoying the scenery. Makes me laugh!

It makes me laugh too, I'm glad mines not the only one! i must admit she does really enjoy going out and it makes her happy so i just let her have a little nosy ;)

Horses love views I was told that because they memorise skylines and land scapes part of their ability to remember where to find food at certain times of year.

I ride a friend's horse and she will stop and gaze in gateways and if you let her she will try to wander in driveways and gardens as well for a better look, she's a one woman neighbourhood watch.

Mine tries to go through every gate that is open, it's a case of "mum can we go this way" when you tell her no I can almost hear her sigh and say "you're a right spolisport":D

lol big girl does it too, i assumed it was because i used to use gateways as markers when she was being rude and trying to turn for home before i was ready, i'd make her go to the next gateway where i would turn for home. The joys of no circular hacking routes:rolleyes:

My horse HATES metal gates, wooden ones are ok-ish.
She does however like to stop every now and then when we're in the hills and admire the view down to her field :D
