I am using DMSO 90 on my horse to try and thin out a misplaced splint chip in his leg, thin scar tissue and thin the suspensory and was told he would stink but he doesn't smell at all. Am I using it wrong? It's been 3 days. I am painting on around the area with a paintbrush, enough to wet the leg, and then just leaving it to work it's magic.

Also, I have been given it for 10 days- when would I expect to notice a difference? (the aim is to cure his lameness as the chip is blocking the suspensory- vet said it was a 50-50 chance of working).

When I used it I didn't really smell it on the horse, but I did get some on my skin by mistake and the taste of garlic in my my mouth was utterly foul!! Make sure you always wear gloves, I couldn't eat for a couple of days, wouldn't wish it on anyone!
Not sure about timings, I used it for about a week I think, it was a while ago, for a pulled muscle, horse healed well but how much was down to the DMSO and how much the box rest, hard to say.
Hope your horse gets better soon and dont forget your gloves!
