that you cannot catch, groom, ride, feed a pony in ten minutes. Does anyone else have this problem with the non horsey members of the family moaning about the time your horses need?

Yes my OH has never quite understood how time consuming horses can be. He will sulk and thats his problem, I just carry on and ignore him

IMO my yard is actually a hole in the time/space continuum - I go down there intending to stick the feed over the door and leave and three hours later I walk out the gate

No, because I make it quite clear that time with the horse is non negotiable.

!!! When i lived at home i had the same problem with my non horsey parents...that was trickier as they had more control over my life!!

Agree with the yard being a weird space/time black hole.......i wonder if it's all yards?!

OH use to complain and sulk endlessly - he was v jealous of my horse, he used to expect to find him our bed wearing PJ's

Then he fell in love with my friends horse, bought her (horse, not the friend!!) learned to ride ..the whole hog.
So now he's either there with me or theres no questions asked - unless its cos he needs to know when to feed the kids..

I can now also squeeze in extra time because obviously '' i'm looking after your horse today as well''

My OH wouldn't cope with anything BUT a horsey girlfriend

He works so many hours himself that if I wasn't playing horses I would get fed up with being all by myself!!

Work just don't seem to be able to accept 'I was late because I was looking at the view and watching the horses chewing each others withers, and there were some very funny coal tits playing and then a couple of magpies joined in.........'

11 years I have been with my OH.11 YEARS!!!!! and I still get the "well, how long are you going to be?" or "oh, you're not riding are you?" or "what? you have to go up again? but you went this morning?" dont get me started on this one, after all this time you really would think he would know my routine.

Horseworld, the place that time forgot.....as he calls it

I agree on that score, my yard is just a minutes walk from our farmhouse and to make matters even worse the storage/offices and shop for my equestrian import company are on the yard.

This morning prime example, a quick hello and good morning horses, feeding and turnout/muckout before work turned into, hello horses hmm maybe I will ride its a sunny warm morning, a full groom and 1 hours ride later, I stay to watch my groom ride my new competition mare who is in training, another hour later ohh bloody hell I have to work now, all I can say is a huge thank you to my groom Sharon who mucked out my 3 for me this morning, as I usually muck out mostly in the week. THANKS SHARON
